Google Search To Include Social Media, Forums, etc

Social media's influence on society has to be one of the worst (non-war or disease) things to take place in the past century.

While a new tab isn't a big deal - they're also going to include in search results.

Question for Iowa Birdwatchers

Am I crazy for thinking I’ve seen Golden Eagles around the Iowa River Greenbelt area in Hardin County? I’m not a novice when it comes to Iowa birds but I am extremely colorblind but on the other hand they aren’t all that colorful anyway. These would be mature adults based on the size of the 3 I’ve seen over the last two years.

On That Note: And in the End

Welcome to another weekly edition of our music-based post. Which is hosted by our crack team of @cyclones500, @CycloneRulzzz and me.

This week's theme is based on doing an opposite of a previous OTN we'd done in September 2020.

This week we're looking for songs whose ENDING LYRICS are the same as the song's title. The song title's lyrics may appear elsewhere in the song but must be, verbatim, the last word(s) of the song to qualify.

Last week's topic was "Fast." It can be found here: https://cyclonefanatic.com/forum/threads/on-that-note-fast.278559/

Alaska Cruise

I’m hoping to not spawn a lot of parody threads with yet another travel-related thread, but I do find you all have a lot of good information on a lot of subjects, so…

Any advice for a Holland America Alaska Cruise (heading south). We have shore facing rooms. What, if any, excursions should we look into. I haven’t been on a cruise in more than a decade. Does one still have to dress for dinner? Is Wi-Fi on the boats useful or useless? Drink packages, yea or nay?

Basically, other than being on the water, I have little idea of what we are rolling into, so any advice, guidance, or tips would be useful.

Good Will McDonald IV Article in Athletic

Good article in the Athletic about Will's difficult path in life to get to ISU and the NFL. I know it is a pay site, but here is a snippet.

In Ames, McDonald quickly became a force. He was known for “terrorizing” practice, Rasheed [DL Coach] said. There was no off switch. Coaches had to tell him to calm down during walkthroughs, which are supposed to be low effort. “He’d go full speed on the first rep and he’d say, ‘Coach, I don’t know how to slow down,'” Rasheed said. “I’d say: Amen to that.”

“He was going 100 miles an hour,” [O'Rien] Vance said. The offensive linemen “hated him. That was just his No. 1 goal: To ruin their day.”

His first college game was at TCU, as a freshman in 2018. First play: strip-sack, fumble.

“We were just like: Yeah, he’s got it,” Vance said. “He’s one of those.

Travel woes

Has anything happened during your travels that have made you do things different or warn others about?

A friend of mine had a long layover in Paris so they did some sightseeing and, while out and about, were the victims of pick pockets. Another friend was in Italy, set his luggage on the ground behind the vehicle, started to load one item and turned to get the next and everything else was gone. It makes me think about ways to keep my stuff safe when I travel.

Usually when we travel I put a bag of various supplies (bandaids, other medical supplies, emergency supplies, etc) and 1-2 blankets in the back seat. I've had a few people make fun of me for doing this. I decided on a trip to SD that I would leave the bag at home and just take 1 blanket. We were driving between Devil's Tower and Belle Fourche and were first ones on the scene of a motorcycle accident. Since then...I take that bag with.

State FS - ISU interest

Cadet:
132 - Jabari Hinson (Ames, So.) defaulted to 6th after losing to Fox (Osage) in semis. It appeared he re-injured his taped shoulder during the match.
195 - Dreshan Ross (Ft. Dodge, Fr.) TF over Denari Mickel (Ames, Fr.) in finals

Juniors:
138 - Anders Kittlelson (Osage, Jr.) default finals against Carter Freeman. I was looking forward to watching that match.
152 - Lucas Bruhl (Ankeny, Jr.) TF over Tucker Stangel (Osage)
I know Lucas is a UNI legacy but is always wearing ISU gear at these tournaments.
170 - Jacob Helgeson (Johnston, So.) lost to Nick Fox (Osage) in the last few seconds on a questionable call to say the least. He has to be high on ISU 2025 recruiting class big board.
182 - Damarion Ross (Ft. Dodge, Jr.) won. I would think we will give him a look.

Most brackets were a little light this year as several of the top kids had already qualified for Nationals through other tournaments.

RB Xavier Robinson Commitment Watch

Currently scheduled to commit on Wednesday. High school teammate of ‘23 signee Ta’Shawn James, we were in on him early—before OU and OSU jumped in. Notre Dame just offered.

Easily the running back the staff is focused in on in this class, kid is a total beast. Think of the kind of big, speedy running backs the Steelers have trotted onto the field over the years. Rating is bound to blow up over the next six months.

Everyone seems to be projecting him to OU, but the Sooners are all over a bunch of running backs.

Oh, and there’s this:
