Currently scheduled to commit on Wednesday. High school teammate of ‘23 signee Ta’Shawn James, we were in on him early—before OU and OSU jumped in. Notre Dame just offered.

Easily the running back the staff is focused in on in this class, kid is a total beast. Think of the kind of big, speedy running backs the Steelers have trotted onto the field over the years. Rating is bound to blow up over the next six months.

Everyone seems to be projecting him to OU, but the Sooners are all over a bunch of running backs.

Oh, and there’s this:

3 star RB will likely never play at OU. Maybe not at OSU either?

Tough to beat OU for a local kid. But maybe they’re stringing him along. Or maybe he just got a solid offer from them.

NAIA. This kid is way better than his current rankings. Has interest from Notre Dame and OU.
Very good. I like that he’s had previous head of a start up program experience. That should hopefully help out with finding gemstones for recruiting.

Ya doesn’t mean that you won’t play at tOSU, but does usually mean you’re going to have to wait your turn.

I do wonder if NIL will chip away at depth at places like tOSU but then again they might just pay enough to be the 3rd RB that it doesn't matter.

It's quite a deal to make some good coin and don't get too much tread on the tires in college, then still be good enough to impress for the NFL draft and max out in the league.

Ya I agree with this mostly, big risk though getting injured and missing your window to show what you can do.

Is coach langs the former d3 head coach?
Yes.

This would be quite the haul for a recruit commitment.

When I view a recruit like this it begs the question, if you were in his shoes - would you rather go to a school where you likely start as a freshman? (but smaller paycheck) Or take the larger paycheck and requires you leap frogging other 4 stars..

If the goal is the NFL ISU certainly has a good track record on RB's.

You’re making the assumption he’d get a “larger” paycheck at OU, when they clearly have two or three bigger fish they’re trying to fry at that position.

There's that too, good point.

I would assume some of these recruits, especially the ones with sensible parents - would be wise enought to point out "Hey you're ISU's #1, but Oklahoma's #4".

That does matter for some.
