I’m hearing through various people that those athletes at both Iowa and Iowa State that were involved with betting, supposedly, an example is going to be made and they are going to come down hard on those athletes. I’m hearing 50-70 percent of their season may be lost for those individual players. I’m hoping this is not true. This is going on across the country and why they would choose the Iowa colleges to set their example is beyond me. I heard it was more rampant at U of I than it was at ISU but some of the names I’ve heard would be a big blow to both schools if true. Because this is all hearsay I am not going to mention any of the names I’ve heard. I did hear it will be all said and done by the end of June.

Thanks so much to @drlove for today’s second topic!

MTV News is no more. This is one in decades of changes for the net work, which originated as a music channel, if you can believe it at this point. What are your favorite MTV moments? Or most memorable? Are you a big Pauly Shore fan? Did you watch Spring Break with Eric Nies religiously?


My most memorable is cheating, but I have the advantage of being first. I remember being at a hotel for a school event when Kurt Loder broke the news of Kurt Cobain‘s passing. That was a huge shock, I was a freshman or so - so old enough to be a huge Nirvana fan, but too young to understand addiction fully.

I don’t know that I have a favorite - I did used to watch when they would do the top 100 videos of all time each year!

When will the IRS focus on NIL payments?

If a person is paid an exorbitant amount of money for a job that normally would cost much less, they have been given a wage plus a GIFT. Gifts over a certain amount are subject to a gift tax...paid by the giver. In addition, the gift portion of the payment is not deductible as an expense. Somebody needs to get the IRS on this before NIL ruins college sports.

Dynasty fantasy football

Does anyone do this? I was given control of a team in an existing league and I’ve never done dynasty before. Basically I need to know if a trade I just made was awful because the receiving team accepted immediately.

It is a 10 team half point ppr standard 1qb league.

I gave 1.2 and trey McBride to get 1.6 and Kyle pitts, who is instantly the best tight end on the roster. I really need wr and te help and didn’t think the wr value was there at 1.2.

7,000 year old stone road discovered underwater in Adriatic Sea

"The team says the road once connected Korčula Island to an artificially made island settlement called Soline, which is now nearly 16 feet below the water’s level. Researchers believe this was all an active site roughly 7,000 years ago.

Using radiocarbon dating, the team tested wood preserved in the road, and were able to date the thoroughfare and connected settlement to 4,900 BC. Researchers describe the structure of the road as “carefully stacked stone plates” that run about 13 feet in width."

Lance Blanks RIP

Somehow I missed that he died a few days ago, and now his daughter has come out and announced he died by suicide. The guy was not my favorite announcer, but seemed like a quality human and it just goes to show how terrible depression and mental health issues can be.

Big 12 Strength of Schedule

Using Draft Kings current win total data and doing some adjustments to lines that are not -110 here is was I came up with. Traditional SOS looks at last years records but you would figure bookmaker numbers would be better. And to no ones surprise just looking at the teams ISU plays they have the hardest schedule. The number represents the total wins their 9 opponents are expected to have from the bookmakers numbers. Certainly these can change and I will probably look every week or so to see if they have.
