Where are the ISU courts?See you all Friday versus UCLA! What a great story!
Ames High School courts (near the Ames High Baseball stadium) unless it rains and then it typically is at LifeTime down in Des Moines.Where are the ISU courts?
I'm sure this will be as big of a story in this state as the Iowa WBB team, right?
@ChrisMWilliams @JStanz51 hey boys interviews the tennis coach and get the answers to these 3 questions
1. How did they get to host?
2. What's it cost to get in?
3. Can we cheer like FB, BB, SB,VB. fans or are we supposed to be all reserved and proper like Wimbledon?
TIA
Can we also start threads to argue about intro music for tennis?
Do they have intro music for tennis? Another ? For them to get answered.
I was there Friday (my first ever tennis match), so I can answer these a bit.@ChrisMWilliams @JStanz51 hey boys interviews the tennis coach and get the answers to these 3 questions

1. Top 16 seeds get to host. ISU was 11. Not for sure on the next round. Looks like it is only one game and highest seed hosts.@ChrisMWilliams @JStanz51 hey boys interviews the tennis coach and get the answers to these 3 questions

I played tennis in high school and coached for a couple years after college. It was pretty common to hang out and talk with the other team and coaches between matches which like you said is just so different than any other sport. My doubles partner and I came to be pretty good friends with another doubles team that we played a few times throughout the season. They were way better than us but it was always fun to play them because, while competitive, we would just openly talk to them between points and crossoversDefinitely have to watch noise during a tennis match, but music before or after is legit.
One of my sons used to take his guitar to tennis meets and fiddle around with it between singles and doubles matches away from the courts. Opposing coach heard him going by our bus so after the meet, he got his guitar out of the car and they played some stuff together. High school tennis was just always so different than any other sport.
One of my sons’ doubles partner was the quarterback of the football team and captain of the basketball team, but tennis was his favorite sport because there weren’t a lot of people there yelling abusive stuff. Kind of sad to think that is a thing in high school sports but it is.
Wish I could come to Ames for this but have a prior commitment. Would be great to have a large supportive crowd!
