Cap City League 6/28

I think it's fair to say Bubu will have his best season yet as a Cyclone. While we can't put too much stock in the CCL, he is averaging a triple double. If there is anything that can happen in the CCL that we can put stock in I'd say it's averaging a triple double.

Actually it looks like I was wrong. Box score says 7/8 from 3 and 3/5 for free throws.

Can someone that was there confirm this to be true?

I've only seen Bubu play once this year and that was against Monte's team. It seemed anytime Monte buckled down on Bubu he went no where and even fell to the floor a couple times because he was out of control. I still think hes the same old Bubu and that guy isnt going to play significant minutes this year. there is just to much depth at the guard spot this year. Other then giving reliable minutes when needed I don't see Bubu doing anything meaningful once big-12 play starts. That's just my opinion

There was a guy on the floor taking videos during the game and I saw him take SDW into the other gym presumably for an interview. Hopefully, we will get some videos posted. It would be great to see the flurries being put on by Naz Long (especially the shots that are McGee-esque) and Nader. I would also love to see a montage of Niang's moves around the basket. He is so sneaky with his moves and so good with the ball near the basket.

CW, is a video from Friday coming?

That was somebody who works for WOI channel 5.

Percy Gibson will be improved this season. I am almost sure of it. Dustin Hogue's highlights are more than impressive. The kid can straight out ball!!!

I agree with this. The thing we need to remember about the CCL is that these games are probably the LEAST important thing the players do in regards to basketball during that day. They lift weights, have workouts, etc. So by the time they hit the CCL they could have had a big weight workout, done an individual thing, had part of their 2 hours per week allowed with Fred, and maybe even had a team thing. They could be tired by that time :)

I like it when I see guys working on things though and while it doesn't appear Percy does that a lot, I'm guessing none of know what he wants to work on.

I remember SDW saying this summer that he works on his shot with Fred everyday. Does anyone actually know what the routine is for our guys this summer and how they get their 2 hours of permitted time with the coaches each week? I would be very interested in finding out. CW?

I certainly hope you're right, but what makes you think this? Or is it just a hunch because you assume that's what "should" happen? Just an honest question, not trying to put a negative angle toward it.

Hopefully the fact that Percy's chances to develop into a starter or play a significant role will light a fire and get him to understand that it's very important to become an aggressive rebounder and defender.

I think Bluford would be a perfect red-shirt candidate. He could work on getting bigger/stronger, his defense, and possibly work with Hoiberg on tweaking his shot a little so that he can be a McGee type shooter. With Kane/Bubu/Thomas/SDW all competing for minutes at the 2 and 3 spots I think It would be smart for a player with so much potential like Bluford to red-shirt. Obviously Thomas/Morris aren't gonna red-shirt, and SDW/Kane/Bubu can't, so why not Bluford.

i think he should as well. I also wish we could redshirt Edozie and Hogue to work on their shot but that's not going to happen (nor should it).

When do they decide to redshirt a player or not?

I think we need Hogue and Edozie. We don't have as much depth in the forward positions. Only Niang, Ejim, and Percy.

Usually they decide when to red shirt someone either before the season starts or around the first exhibition game.

Why spend another scholarship year on an unknown CC SG when you look at who we are recruiting for 2014 and 2015. Bluford will not redshirt.

No, Bluford will not be RS, and should not be.

We are looking at landing some bigger fish with his available schollie in a couple years. Fred's just hoping to catch some lightning in a bottle for a couple years, like he did with McGee.

First, Bubu has already redshirted. Second, that's a terrible idea. Even if he hadn't redshirted, we would want his scholarship for next year. Besides, despite what many think on this board, I still believe Bubu will get 10-15 minutes a game.

In case people do not realize, Fred is trying to fill the barn with top 150 players. Until then.....

And what about Naz?
