Another Justin Hamilton Update

I'm going to wait and see who is on this team before making any bets. If no one else transfers and we add Wilkins and Clark, I would say we will win more than 4 Big XII games next year.

Better not bet till next Nov the way things go.

I'll take the over 4 on conference wins. I will mark it down.

UNL will be much better next year. They actually may sweep us unless we get some inside game going. That was half of our conference wins last year which were very close (3 pooints or less). We better beat CU in Boulder next year or we may not reach four. Heck, the football team could end up with more conference wins than bball.

Yeah - they beat us this year... :chatterbox:

What does that have to do with next year?

Player for player they will still have more talent than us, I would say we had more talent than them this year and they still beat us. I dont know a team in college basketball that had as much talent as us this year and underachieved like us.

OU had more talent than us this year. Next year they are losing their Crocker, Gallon, Warren, and Mason Griffin. We will be at worst on par with them talent wise.

Where is the talent going to come from next year? What about points? Defense? Rebouding aside from Dendy (if he is here)? Free throw shooting? FUNDAMENTALS?

I'm not saying we are going to be great. I am just saying that a lot of other schools are losing talent next year

OU's bench will have the same amount of talent as our starting 5, thats no joke. But if talents are equal has McDermott shown you he can win a game against an even opponent? Not me.

That may be what you're trying to say, but what I'm hearing is that we're hoping that there is ONE team in the conference that might suck as much as we do from a talent standpoint. I agree with the other posters that said Colorado and Nebby will pass us next year. I think it will take an act of god to get us to 4 conference wins. However much the conference may be down next year, we'll be down exponentially more and when you're starting as low as we are, that's flat out depressing.

Well that's a relief. I was beginning to worry old Ham had gotten himself a conscience and decided to do the right thing and honor his commitment.

Hey Big Ham...don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya!!

K. State. You asked.

All I can do is laugh anymore...this has become the biggest joke I have been around or seen. I thought the Walden years were some dark years until McD came along.

Me too. Difference is we know how good of a BB program we can have. The fact that some people are not up in arms about 4 years in the basement of the big 12 is beyond me.

The whole dismal pathetic MBB situation is too sickening for me to spend valuable time dissecting causes and solutions, that's what JP gets the big bucks to do. But I will make this comment, Justin Hamilton came to ISU as an unknown commodity and whatever "value" he has built for himself came about through the opportunity and facilities etc. provided by ISU. It is a sad commentary on the current climate at ISU equally with the overall environment of NCAA D-1 basketball that these adolescents feel compelled to bounce around with their committments. It is apparent that McD has some serious issues with quality player retention. If a list of top 10 reasons to send McD down the road were compiled WJ, who left one week after being elected team captain for the following year, and Hamilton, who was guaranteed ample starting playing time, would be the top 2 on the list for me. JP, its time-pull the plug.

Don't agree at all - claims like this (CW has said the same thing) make my blood boil.
Justin Hamilton made himself into a player through his own hard work, initiative, and goal of self-improvement. Sure, he's listened to the coaches, but we've have more than our share (Gilstrap, Lucca, Colvin, Dendy) who seem to tune the coaches out and fight them. Because Justin is coachable, that's to his credit.
If Gmac had more players like Ham who were willing to work on their weaknesses to get better, we would be in a lot better shape.

I agree.
Justin himself added the hard work necessary to utilize the opportunity, facilities, etc. However, when I work hard at the opportunity my job has provided and use the company's facilities (to get the task done that they are paying me to do), the company owns the value I add to the product/research. Probably not a great comparison and perhaps Justin felt he was not adequately being compensated?

Ham and his family probably saw how much Mac has done for CB and his draft status and realized it was time to move on. I say this with all seriousness...what Mac allowed CB to do this year was a disgrace. I didn't help our team...and cost CB millions of dollars.

I don't follow this analogy. So you're not allowed to quit your job, even if you don't like your boss, because your company is the reason you have marketable skills?

And what about last year? Does Mac get any credit for Brackins breaking out? Probably not from you.

This makes your blood boil? Wow.

You totally don't get what I mean when I say that. My point is that Iowa State put a lot into the kid and it sucks that once he is about ready to hit his prime, he leaves. I'm not saying that he owes his success to Iowa State at all. There's a big difference. But you taking me out of context is pretty normal so I understand where you'd write this.
