Weather for Tech - 6pm, Sub-20s

Our tailgate crew (which is probably going to be at about 40% of normal have already made the call. We will be tailgating on the bus rather than setting up tents next to the bus. We are also carpooling people down to the bus rather than anyone riding their bikes down like we usually do.

The tornado game will, if it hasn’t already, go underrated in cyclone lore. That was literally an insane several hours. Colorado had zero chance that night.
Yeah, they were chasing everybody out of the student lot but we were like, "No thanks, our keg is right here." We stood there and watched the wall cloud drinking beer like a bunch of jackasses.

I was standing on the top of an RV drunkenly yelling for someone to show me where the ‘nado was. Legitimately a good thing I didn’t fall off and die.

Guys on B12 XM radio said wear surgical gloves under your regulars, and it will make a ton on difference holding the heat in. Some sideline reporters wear scuba suits under their outwear, same rationale. Both interesting ideas.

I didn’t know what was going on. I was thinking, I don’t remember a 6 pm whistle in Ames. Then was wondering why everyone was standing in their yards. When we got to the lot, we were told that there was a tornado but Hilton is full so just sit in your car. I parked, looked at the wife, looked at Hilton and saw no one and and said, we are going in. A lot of space in there.

There is a early February bike ride in Iowa called the BRR ride. One year it was particularly cold and my buddy got the bright idea to wear his wetsuit. He thought he was going to pass out because he got too hot.

I remember it was in the 50's after the tornado. Eerily warm and super humid. Also attended the two really cold games and the Drake game. ‍

I never believed a word she said after she claimed she put bread sack OVER her shoes/boots. And that is coming form a Western IA farm kid who routinely would have bread sacks INSIDE his boots.
I didn’t believe a word when I found out she was running for an office. Never believe a politician.

Cyclone Fans,

Due to unusually cold and snowy conditions this week, the following items are brought to your attention regarding conditions in Jack Trice Stadium:
  • Temperatures are expected to be much colder than normal on Saturday, with a temperature at kickoff near 17°F and a wind chill of 4°F. Wind chill temperatures will fall near or below 0°F by the end of the game. Please dress warm and exercise caution in these extreme cold conditions.
  • Stadium staff have focused on clearing pedestrian walkways throughout the week; however due to persistent below-freezing temperatures there will be patchy ice and snow in several areas throughout the stadium, parking lots, and sidewalks. Exercise caution.
  • The heavy, wet snow on Monday and subsequent temperatures left a layer of ice and snow on many of seats within the stadium.
    • Tomorrow, fans are allowed to bring seats, cushions and blankets into the stadium for their seating comfort.
  • For those that need to warm up, the Jacobson Building atrium is open to the public. There is access to the Jacobson Building off of the north concourse of the stadium.

How many people here were at the '91 Colorado game?

I remember getting from Pammel to about the horse barns in my Volkswagon Vanagon and having to turn around, park at Pammel and walk to the game WITH MY GIRLFRIEND (now wife.) It seemed like there were no more than 1500 people there, they didn't have any gatekeepers and you could literally sit anywhere you wanted. Although, before we slipped and let them score a long touchdown, it was close and amazingly loud with many in the crowd following the line of scrimmage up and down the field.

They brought in maybe 4 sidewalk cleaners to brush the snow off the field before each quarter. It snowed HARD that night and day.
I was there in 1991!
I will not be there tomorrow night.
Stay warm folks!

Little late to the party Surly. I mentioned using latex gloves a couple pages or so ago. Either keep up or get off CF.

At kick or by the end? I am guessing there will also be a sharp contrast between those two numbers as well.

I'm leaning towards attending, but if CMC runs a 4 and short shotgun snap hand off to the running back that fails and we are down by 7 or more I'm out of there. I don't need to suffer through that. Maybe stay till half due to respect for the band.
