Weather for Tech - 6pm, Sub-20s

Bumping this thread as I was looking for the coldest game I've gone to. Trying to think if I've ever been to a game that would rival the one in KC. Tickets are so cheap right now I'm considering going to this historic game.

I can say I went to the coldest game in Jack Trice Stadium history. No Cyclone friends ever questions my fanaticism after being at this game in 2013 (horrible KU/ISU records - freezing temps.)

"It was the coldest game in Jack Trice Stadium history -- 8 degrees at kickoff and 3 by the start of the second half -- and the field was frozen and slick. But it didn't bother the Cyclones, who amassed a season-high 502 yards and recorded their first shutout since beating Northern Iowa 27-0 on Sept. 25, 2010."

That TECH game was awful. But looking back now it wasn't bad once you got out of the nasty NW wind. If we were on the east side of the stadium, it would terrible.

Also, the amount of fireball bottles that I walked over leaving the game was incredible. I wish I would of taken a pic but my hands were froze at that point. If you saw it, you know what I am talking about. Like HUNDREDS of empty shooters if not full bottles. It was hilarious.

The 2013 KU game game was seriously brutal weather wise. Windchill took it to negatives. I had 3 pairs of gloves, 4 pairs of socks (3 wool/smartwool) 5 layers worth of tops under jacket. 3 layers of pants. Hand warmers, foot warmers, blankets...and STILL couldn't feel my toes or fingers by mid 3rd quarter.

Wished it was a 2:30pm kickoff for safety, but of course it was a night game.

Just glad Grant Rohach balled out to at least make it a victory in a terrible season.

Vikings played the seahawks a few years ago in similar conditions (-6 temp; -25 to -30 wind chill). I know a friend who went and said it wasn't so bad once you acclimated to the conditions. Of course, if you do go, try to get seats that are not facing the wind.

As a side note, that playoff game was horrendously played by both teams. The best part of the game was Bud Grant walking out for the national anthem and coin flip in a short sleeve shirt

Yeah, I was thinking this was the coldest game I went to and I was fine. We tailgated in an ice shack.

I was there too. Snuck some Coors Light cans in and we had to put them back inside our coats to keep them from freezing otherwise you were drinking slush if they sat out too long. I've never seen the mountains on the can as blue as they were that day.
