Weather for Tech - 6pm, Sub-20s

Plus college kids will be leaving after classes on Friday tor holiday break, thus short on staffing and very slim tailgating numbers due to the cold weather

Honestly considering they have trouble getting enough employees, maybe they don't have the staff to man the parking lots that long this weekend. And I'm assuming attendance will be awful anyway.
They never look in my bag, must be because I am old and frail.

I wonder if I could bring in a tent?

The wind hopefully not as bad as this afternoon. It was fine when I left home with the dog but really went into full blast about an hour later.

Another downside to not having the physical passes they used to

Well, I know that literally walked in with his phone/ticket in one hand and an uncoozied beer in the other for the Oklahoma game so I am guessing enforcement of any rules will be nil for this game.

Personally I am excited to experience the three phases of cold weather tailgating: excitement for the novelty of it, "holy fck why did we do this", and then settling in to a(n alcohol-aided) permanent state of cold.
Just don't lie down somewhere out of the way outside for a nap.

I'll be there. I'll support our seniors... they deserve it. I have no problem with cold weather.. I live in Minn... this is nothing you can't endure. Dress smartly and cheer on our team. They have not won the close games and that is unfortunate. They are only one Manning(less) coach away from winning a lot of those.

For those of you coming out, I am making some warm blueberry and cherry cobblers to share. GO STATE!!!!!
If you have ice cream, you might just make me come to the game, why on God's green earth do you start a game at 6:00 at night in the middle of November?

You would think, but they confiscated my beer for that Drake disaster a few years ago. Just depends if you get a little man on a power trip.

You do know how the conference works, right? We don't pick the times of the game. And FS1 doesn't give a **** if we are cold.

It will be cold that is for sure. But with the south end now bowled (closed) it won't be the same as the wind tunnel effect Jack Trice use to have when both sides were open.

Official game weather info is recorded at/near kickoff. Any large temperature swings during the game aren't part of the record. This is every JTS game below freezing:

17 - CU 1991 (N 15-20, WCI -15)
25 - KSU 1993
I was at these two during my first tour of Iowa in 1989-95!

My biggest concern is how I'm going to pee with 3 or 4 layers of pants on.

"I'll be bundled up, man. I'm going to be comfortable and fired up. (Equipment operations director) Zane (Perry) will have all kinds of cold gear packed. Vaseline and Right Guard so your feet don't sweat. We're going to definitely be comfortable and playing fast."
Vaseline is a myth.

How many people here were at the '91 Colorado game?

I remember getting from Pammel to about the horse barns in my Volkswagon Vanagon and having to turn around, park at Pammel and walk to the game WITH MY GIRLFRIEND (now wife.) It seemed like there were no more than 1500 people there, they didn't have any gatekeepers and you could literally sit anywhere you wanted. Although, before we slipped and let them score a long touchdown, it was close and amazingly loud with many in the crowd following the line of scrimmage up and down the field.

They brought in maybe 4 sidewalk cleaners to brush the snow off the field before each quarter. It snowed HARD that night and day.
