Weather for Tech - 6pm, Sub-20s

Also...

16° at game time with a wind chill of 2°.
12° by the end with a wind chill of 2°.
Wind NW around 10mph to start and then down around 6 by the end.

Will be close, but I'm calling my shot. 2nd coldest game at JTS. I will have been at both the coldest... as my pic at the side proves. :)
I will have attended the 2 coldest games in history as well. Not sure if that's something I should brag about, though.

Still looks WAF in the afternoon before the game though. Wind gusts in the 30s. My canopy can't handle that. Anyone going to try and tailgate in this? I was thinking about it, but now thinking no. I have a friend that lives about a quarter mile from the stadium. Think we are just going to pregame at his house.

Starting to wonder this myself. One of the guy I have seats with lives just south of the stadium, we are going to meet up there and make a decision about tailgating. The wind is the problem for me as we plan to put up a tent or 2 with some sides and a gas heater but wind gusts would make tents kind of tricky. I'm about to the point of let's tailgate at his place in the warmth then head out closer to game time. The other guy with us seems pretty sure about tailgating in this though but maybe the wind when he arrives will change his mind. if it was just 20 with no wind I'd be OK but between trying to keep tents in place and the windchill 20-30 mph wind will make not sure its worth it.

I’m curious how many have been to those two plus the Drake game.
You've got at least one right here. I'd be curious to know how many have been to those plus the Tornado Game.

If it wasn't Thanksgiving next week I'd really like to drive down from my school and go to the game Saturday but its unfortunately not happening

I've been to the other 2 but not the Drake game. Had to miss the tornado game thanks to one of my wive's college roommates having a wedding that day. She divorced him later and married another guy so there's that too.

Been to all 3 and planning on going tomorrow. Not sure how many from my group are planning on going.

One of my friends is bringing 2 kids with him. That made the call easier for us. They would be miserable and probably sitting in the vehicle the whole time.

The tornado game will, if it hasn’t already, go underrated in cyclone lore. That was literally an insane several hours. Colorado had zero chance that night.
Hard to describe the energy in the stadium that night, but it was one of my favorite games of all time. I've only been to the Kansas game of the 3 worst weather games and honestly it just sucked. The only good part was sitting wherever we wanted, the fact that we won, and saying I was there.

They did and I felt so bad for the seniors leaving their shoes on field. The field wasn’t so bad but when they got to the sideline there was a lot of ice.
They should put a bread sack inside each sock. Their feet might get sweaty but it will help when they have to take off their shoes.

I took my kid who was about 4 to 2013 kansas and had no issues. Kids tolerate cold better than i do it seems.

In addition to your warmest gear, bring a piece of cardboard or carpet to stand on. You would be surprised how much a standard piece of cardboard will help your feet stay warm.

Tip number 2. Write "F*@K IOWA on the above mentioned cardboard and hold up when cameras is near your area.
Hey, I just posted the cardboard idea a page ago. :mccaffery::mad:

But you impoved upon it with the signage idea. :otz::D

I read this three times because I wasn’t sure what the hell you were talking about. Is this a real thing? A bread sack??

I think it would be fun to go to game like they had last night with Central Michigan where it was snowing like no other. They are calling for feet of snow in Buffalo starting tomorrow. The Bills game would be great to see to. Like someone said it's all about the memories and saying; "Hey, I was at that game."
I'm pretty sure the Bills are now playing that game in Detroit as the home team. Then they turn around and play in Detroit on Thursday as the visiting team.
