Weather for Tech - 6pm, Sub-20s

Feels like Iowa 20s and west Texas 20s are not the same.
Most of the Panhandle of TX is between 3000 and 4000 feet elevation. They get plenty of cold, wind and some snow. They do not have the sustained periods cold like we do in Jan and Feb but they have plenty of opportunities to play/practice in cold weather.

My wife gave these to me for Christmas in 2018 to wear in cold weather games. My feet have sweated in them despite the cold. They're fantastic and I love them.

Coincidentally, I gave her the same socks the same year at Christmas. She gave me a gold pair, I have her a cardinal pair. She found the pair she bought at Hy-Vee, I found the pair I bought at Strawberry Patch in Ames.

In addition to your warmest gear, bring a piece of cardboard or carpet to stand on. You would be surprised how much a standard piece of cardboard will help your feet stay warm.

Tip number 2. Write "F*@K IOWA on the above mentioned cardboard and hold up when cameras is near your area.

My 7 yr old informed me yesterday that we are NOT leaving early.

You’re raising them right! We never left games early when I was a kid. And now I never leave games early.

Honestly it will be a great memory for any kids there. Like I said before that Kansas game was one of my favorites.

I think it would be fun to go to game like they had last night with Central Michigan where it was snowing like no other. They are calling for feet of snow in Buffalo starting tomorrow. The Bills game would be great to see to. Like someone said it's all about the memories and saying; "Hey, I was at that game."

Still looks WAF in the afternoon before the game though. Wind gusts in the 30s. My canopy can't handle that. Anyone going to try and tailgate in this? I was thinking about it, but now thinking no. I have a friend that lives about a quarter mile from the stadium. Think we are just going to pregame at his house.

My daughter, who is now a grown mother, asked to go to the Kansas game with me because she knew it was going to be incredibly cold and she wanted to say she attended the coldest game in ISU's history. We made it through the entire game together while my wife kept the car warm next to the stadium and listened on the radio. We jumped in the car at half time to warm up. It was all worth it!

I'm the lone wolf in our group that is going to the game now. Everyone else is like, "thanks, but no thanks!"

Also...

16° at game time with a wind chill of 2°.
12° by the end with a wind chill of 2°.
Wind NW around 10mph to start and then down around 6 by the end.

Will be close, but I'm calling my shot. 2nd coldest game at JTS. I will have been at both the coldest... as my pic at the side proves. :)

I’m in this boat as well. Has some folks back out for legitimate reasons. I’ve got a couple tickets I’m gonna end up giving away at best it looks like. Our normal RV crew is gone this week too. Will be just me, my boy and my old man. I’m actually kind of looking forward to it for that reason.
