If Park will be back next week, I think the coaching staff should trot Kempt out there for at least 1 play early in the game so he can get the standing ovation he deserves.
You mean the fact they don't have to worry about their ribs being exposed on reaching for high balls during the game
I do think that receivers have dropped balls on Park, but he has reciprocated in put his guys in position to get killed.
Guess will see what happens.. Park really needs to settle down though, ISU needs a calm confident demeanor at QB, to deal with lots of bad karma of blowing games.
Kempt threw a really nice ball today. I would argue better than I've seen Park throw. On top of that, I loved that he had the awareness to run 4-5 yards for an easy first down instead of scrambling in the backfield and waiting for his receivers to get open once or twice. I don't think Park does this. If he's like that every day in practice, he should start.
However, Park has, in my opinion, much better arm strength and awareness. A few times today, receivers had to tell Kempt time was running out.
I think Park is a better QB, but if the team is behind Kempt and Kempt can keep the good accuracy, let him play.

You guys do realize we are talking about a walk on senior. I’m thrilled with how he played and he did everything we needed him to do but we’ve been down this road before. Park is clearly and indisputably the more talented player. Kempt played well but it is highly doubtful he ever repeats that performance. We had a lot of easy stuff that developed into big plays. If Park can come back and buy in to that offense he is the much better option.
4-5 that includes wins against KU, UNI and Akron. And with the best talent ISU has ever had at WR. Sorry, not good enough.

Like I said, some of you need to pump the brakes a little before giving our walk on quarterback the heisman.
Wild how many people say this offhand like we didn't just see some other QB lead five straight scoring drives on the road against the #3 team in the country. That doesn't happen every day at Iowa State... in fact, it has NEVER happened before today.
CMC should let them battle it out now if Park is healthy and returns. Don't decide based on today alone but also don't just tell Kempt to go sit on the bench again and not give him a chance to stay in the driver's seat.
If Montgomery is properly involved in the game plan we’ll be pretty successful no matter who is under Center. Just do it. Swoosh.
I think if it was Lanning in Parks’ shoes, many of you would be singing a different tune and would say that he deserves his job back. Whether it’s Parks’ actions, the way he talks, or looks, it seems like there is something about him that bothers you and make you quick to jump to a Walk-On 3rd String Qb that couldn’t start at his JUCO
Yes. He earned the ability to earn his job back. Really depends on why he wasn't on the field today doing his job.
Its a complicated situation. That walk on 3rd string QB that couldn't start at his juco just played a pretty incredible game and won.
I fully expect Park to be the starter at some point this season. I'm just not sure that you rush a guy back that clearly has some issues. To me, a leave of absence is a pretty big deal and it would be odd that the guy would be ready to come back after a week off.
The starting QB job should be Kempt's to lose. With the weapons we have on offense, the first thing our QB needs to do is quickly and accurately get the ball to our playmakers in space. Kempt put on a clinic in how to do that today. Park should study this game and learn from Kempt. Having a big arm that can make plays can be helpful of course, but we do not need that to win games.
Absolutely. I think Park will start games again this season. I think there is no reason to rush him since he is clearly struggling.
I'm certainly not disagreeing with his obvious talent, but very few, if any, of us know the whole story. From a fans' perspective, Park's leave of absence does not look good.
I have no information, but Park could be done here. ....Or he could start next week.
The issue is not his talent. It's his lack of leadership.
It’s almost like our playbook was super limited and that was the game plan..
All you have to do is look at our opposing qb today to tell you everything you needed to know. He had guys open to keep drives going but was looking for the big play. Should have easily converted on their last drive. Kempt played smart and took shots at the perfect time. Got helped by great plays all around and we capitalized. I like Park and hope he is back soon. He's super talented. But you saw what just making the smart play today can do for you.
