Where do we go at QB from here?

What would you do at QB?

It's less about the QB than it is the system. If you're going run a system based on RPOs, then a guy like Park who has a Rickey-Bobby-If-You-Ain't-First-You're-Last mentality, then he's going chuck a bunch of deep bombs into cover 2 and will end up with a stat line of 48 attempts, 3 INTs, and only 9 carries for Montgomery. If you are doing short yardage passes and have Joeldozer to move the sticks, a guy like Kempt can complete 18 of 24 for 340 yards and a rediculous 18.5 per completion on a majority of short routes.

For the record, my vote would be for Lanning. Based on Bill Snyder winning 9+ games in 14 of his last 22 seasons in a place like Manhattan, KS. I mean a horrendously terrible player like Jesse Ertz ran for 1,000 yards last year and Kstate went 9-4.

Campbell said Park has to get healthy. That does not sound like a problem that takes less than a week to fix.

Agree. It sounds like Park is going to miss at a minimum several games, and maybe longer. I truly hope he's ok and is able to come back at some point.

Your record is broken.

Another question is Lanning. I thought it was smart for him just to focus on defense, but he was good enough today that he should get some snaps on offense.

I like Park's passing ability and his arm. However, I'm wondering if he almost throws the ball to hard? How many dropped passes were there today? Not many that I can recall that weren't contested by a defender like there have been in previous games. I've also heard from players that Park is very cocky towards the team and has the "nothing is ever my fault attitude."

I don't think a starting QB can take a leave of absence and return the next game. I don't think the staff will take Lannings main roll off of defence, using him situationally. Kempt starts and Zeb gets some time playing against Kansas. Park only likes throwing the ball down field, the staff even said he would pass every time if he had the chance. Texas showed us that outcome.

No doubt. I have zero inside info on the Park situation, but the way it made Campbell uncomfortable to talk about it should show you how serious it might just be. Lanning is more than just a runner, the defense has to respect his arm strength. He changes the game no matter what side of the field he's on. They call that a bad @ss.

Park had issues last week & it affected his game. He will be fine if he gets things straightened out. If not use similar package that we used today

Being an effective QB is much more about using your head and having the right demeanor. Joe Montana is a great case in point.

Having a big arm is a great thing, but it is a distant 3rd place to the other two traits. Honestly, I'm comfortable with either guy starting, but if I had to pick I think I'd go with Kempt...and yes, we MUST continue to use Lanning as we did today.

It will be interesting how Kempt plays next week.(I'm assuming he starts at this point) I thought he did a really great job today, but was aided by Mike Stoop's idiotic, in your face mano e mono defense several times. Look at all the big plays they gave up by not playing just sound defense. There guy were just not very good on the backside help, running to the play, taking bad angles, etc. Also, got knocked on their butts a couple time trying to pump and run with Lazard.

Look for DM to have a huge game against KU, BTW. Still waiting for that 70 yard run from him.
