Where do we go at QB from here?

What would you do at QB?

I think Park is a ways away from being "ready to go"

I also think Kempt will come back to earth within the next two weeks. Sometimes you have a game where everything goes well, I'll be very surprised if he can sustain that high level of play. Hell, if he can, he needed to be the start from game 1!

Once a good DC watches the OU tape, they will figure out a way to make it a lot harder for Kempt. Ecstatic about the win, but I will agree, for once a lot went right for ISU in a game. Still like the offensive talent on this team. DM, the WRs, even the blocking of the TE made it a lot easier for Kempt today. OL really played light years better this week too.

I think the very apparent aspect of unpredictability and catching another defensive coaching staff off guard is under-rated. Play them both with Lanning. Hell, let Montgomery or Campos pass. We were forced into it today, but I think it really was to our benefit that all of the Sooner preparation was not cookbook and you could feel the mounting distress as the game went on. IN contrast, Herman and the Texas team knew what Park was going to do before he snapped the ball and we just kept doing the same thing for 4 quarters. Loss.

Looking back....Montgomery was so freaking huge this game. His play was stellar and helped qb play beyond doubt.

I suppose they will, but Kempt didn't do anything especially clever or unusual.

My point exactly. With the talent deficit we might have with Tex or OU AND against good coaching....we have an uphill battle always if we just come out and run xbox360 plays that might work against practice squad or just scream "vertical" or "smash mouth". We will have to keep changing things up and plan to do that (its called "coaching" with strong dose of opposition research).

I know this is hypothetical, but it is the cart before the horse.

I was the Akron game and one thing stuck out poorly with Park. After one series he was pissed at something and went to the far end of the bench away from everyone. He pushed past everyone to do it too. Plain and simple it looked like pouting. I'm sorry, but the way to improve is by working with your teammates every opportunity, both in-game and out-of-game.

10 days ago Park was a god to many on this site.
Nailed it. He had one bad game against a really good defense following a game plan that relied on him to carry the whole offense. He would have shattered most of the single season passing records. Kempt was fantastic, but he wasn't asked to carry the offense. He had a lot of yards but at least half of them were on screen passes. If anything, this game might make the coaches realize that it's ok to take some pressure off Park and make things simpler for him.

Should be Kempt's job to lose. He was there, performed well and helped us win an enormous game. If Park's issues are related to his own choices, then he must earn his way back and not just stroll in and start. Don't care if his arm is better.

Park's had more 300 yard passing games than any ISU QB. Has he not earned anything with that?

I was there and saw that too.

Park and it isn't even freaking close. Park is significantly more talented, and younger. Kempt played great, but he isn't a Big 12 quarterback. Unless I missed it he isn't even a scholarship player.

Approximately how many ISU, no other Big XII quarterbacks, have gone into Norman in the last 20 years and thrown for 350+ yds, 3 TDs and no INTs. And it isn't like it was conservative play calling, he wasn't asked to sit on the ball and win the game.

I mean Trent Freaking Dilfer won a superbowl. It isn't just about have the best arm or the most talent at QB. It is about having someone in there that makes the offense go and KK made the offense go today.

There is no way you don't start him going forward. If his play doesn't remain at this level then you have a choice but he has to be #1 right now.

Laughable how many of you are so ready to move on from Park. The dude is the best QB ISU has seen in years.

Kempt played well for what we asked him to do today but his yardage numbers are super inflated by great individual plays by Ryan, Lazard, and Montgomery Teams will gameplan against him and will completely shut him down. There’s a reason he is a walk on and was 3rd behind noland.

If Park is healthy, he has to be the guy. I would like to see Lanning get used like he did today. 3rd and 1 should be Lanning running the ball. Not quick pass routes.

Could the receivers have made amazing plays because of the quarterback?
