This is pretty much my position. Just because I don't fanatically believe our QB's are all-big 12 caliber doesn't mean I don't love the cyclones. I just see a team that is pretty much below league average in everything other than LBer and Runningback depth. That means a below average result, the notion that fanaticism and wishful thinking will result in onfield results is lunacy.
You can have a realistic discussion about the team without jumping down the throat of everyone who has a more optimistic view of the team.
It's not about realistic opinions it's about the attitude in which you present them.
I am more than willing to have well reasoned discussion about this years team without putting down people who have differing opinions.
UNI wasn't saying that JB will be as good as Peyton Manning and I think you and Rabbuk know it, you just wanted to be internet tough guys and jump all over him for being so positive.
Possible, but mattyice is usually much more negative and condescending. crawfs biggest beef so far is rational discussion which I agree could be improved. I just think the attitude is a bit much.
I wasn't trying to do this at all, all I read was a post comparing Jared Barnett and Peyton Mannings numbers and asked why we were comparing the two. Sorry I didn't read the whole thread. Then UNIcyguy or w/e asked me for an opinion, which was apparently the wrong opinion.
Your mom's attitude is too much!!!!!, but yeah, rational discussion is fine, but the real question is how many stars and other offers these qbs had.
You didn't say, "Why are we comparing JBs numbers to Mannings numbers?"

Notice the difference? One is a polite question. One is condescending and implies that the person who posed the comparison is an effing moron.
Can you understand why that same person would not value your opinion as highly as you might like?
Were the offers from other BCS top conference programs? If not tsk tsk.. If so, WINNING!
I'd maybe give you Baylor, as that wasn't totally one-sided (although Iowa State had no chance of stopping Baylor's offense). But Oklahoma doubled you up in total yards (had more yards at halftime than Iowa State had the whole game) and was ahead 23-6 at halftime. What part of that suggests they were "closely-matched opponents"?
I bet we're the only team in the country that won 6 games last year and will only be favored in 1 game this year.
