Well, obviously we already mentioned Shatel. When Tramel calls the Big 12 "Conference Chaos" and writes "Any chance to find smooth sailing, you take it," yeah, I'd say he understands the decision to move...even if he doesn't agree with it. Same goes for Mellinger. May not agree with the decision, but they ALL understand the motivations.
Who's in the best position to determine whether MU to the SEC "makes sense?" Out of state sports columnists? Message board posters from rival schools? The national sports broadcasting cartel (ESPN)?
I'd say that's a decision best left to the SEC conference, its members, and the curators, adminstrators, alums and supporters of the University of Missouri. And Al's straw poll of tailgaters aside, they all seem to be in support of the move.
If the Cyclones were about to accept an invite from the B1G tomorrow, what do you think these regional sports columnists would write? Blah blah blah..."farm school in the middle of nowhere" blah blah blah "never won anything" blah blah blah "can't compete with Mich, OSU, etc." blah blah blah "adds nothing the B1G doesn't already have." And on and on.
But if it were the right move for ISU, and the B1G was in favor of it, you'd go, and ignore their nonsense. You'd move because it's what the people who care about ISU want. And that's all that matters.
Well...that, and watching Gary Barta's head explode.
