Apparently you didn't read to the end of the article, with the link to Shatel's column advocating the opposite view. Herbstreit thought the move made sense, as well as Barry Tramel from Okla. These aren't SEC writers.

Hey Mizzoulander...I thought you said yesterday that Barry Tramel and other folks outside of Missouri and/or the SEC said that MU to the SEC makes sense? My statement was that I still haven't seen one writer outside of MU or the SEC that argued MU to SEC makes sense.

Articles keep popping up from everyone about how the SEC move is illogical. INCLUDING your own reference Barry Tramel. Looks like your statement from yesterday was wrong.

For football's sake, Missouri better think about this SEC-thing | NewsOK.com

I hope you are right, and I could see that being a compromise.

The original plan when there was 12 teams was to play FB in Dallas, and MBB/WBB in Kansas City. The reasoning was both divisions would host a major championship. The other sports would continue to rotate among campuses, with the exception of soccer in San Antonio, and baseball/softball which are locked into OKC.

Tramel is merely saying what most people have understood for months: Missouri is deliberately choosing irrelevance for their basketball program and putting what they've built in football at risk so that they can chant "SEC,SEC,SEC".

They will justify it until the bitter end, just witness Zoolander and QBU's efforts here, by citing "instability" and conjuring up boogey men out of OU and UT at every turn. But of those two schools and Mizzou, only one of them is even remotely likely to actually leave the conference and it isn't UT or OU.

I eagerly await the pending announcement of MU's withdrawal. Time to go, Tigers.

BINGO

They're not gone yet? Come on.... I'm like a kid at christmas. Mizzou is so irrelevant they don't even get their own thread.

Couldn't agree more. At first wanted them to stay, but now, PLEASE LEAVE. Just tired of it all.

Still say >50% chance they stay.

There is not ONE reason, outside of a viral internet fan base that wants to go.

Here is the latest on MU from a source involved in the talks: MU curators met this AM talked about the pension plan to buy more time. Over the last 72 hours MU has been in serious discussions with the Big 12 to stay. OU and UT want a 10 team league and can sell it better w MU than BYU. OU and UT realize that if they give a little here, they can all gain a lot on the back end. MU does not seem to care either way if its a 10 or 12 team league. Some SEC proponents have now been swung back in favor of Big 12. Situation still very fluid -bob Fresco

I've been pretty confident that Missouri wouldn't leave this whole time, now I'm thinking they're going. This blurb seems made up.

It does and a 10 team league does not benefit ISU in any way. We need that fourth non conference game

Bob Fresco is right up there with Greg Swaim and the Bleacher report as people who make up stuff ALL the time in order to get people to tune into their show or get hits on their website. Ignore him.

I like it. Another anonymous source with an unsubstantiated rumor... High drama...or not.

Agreed.

Hell, im pretty sure OU is on the side of a 12 team conference, so that kind of makes his blurb meaningless.

Isn't Missouri gone yet?!?!? ATTENTION WHORES!!! They love being the one holding it all up

I dont think they're being attention whores. I think they were probably hoping that when TAMU jumped the other dominoes would fall (OU\UT and others to PAC) to allow them to jump out of the big 12 free of charge. Once the PAC slapped OU\UT down, and OU\UT started talking commitments that would remove their ability to explore other options, they had no choice but to show their hand.

I'm one of those that wants the Big 12 to go back to 12, but even if the Big 12 goes back to 12 it doesn't automatically mean the conference will go back to 9/3. The trending opinion is networks are pushing 9 conference games, even with those that have a divisional setup.

I tend to agree with this although this stinks for schools like ISU. The networks could dictate that there be at least one BCS opponent in the non-con if there are only 8 conference games.
