Templeton Rye - Who's Finding It?

So I take it there is no where else in the metro to really look? I haven't been able to find it.

The stuff is flying off the shelves. Best bet is to call around to smaller stores in the area. My father-in-law picked up a few bottles in Fairfield last night. Said there was plenty on the shelf. Try to find areas that don't have such a high demand. Good luck!

I got 1 bottle at the Last Stop Liquor Store on University by the State Fairgrounds and my mom picked me up a bottle in a liquor store in Clinton, IA

Unless I missed something, the whiskey is still distilled in Indiana, I believe, with the same distilling partner they've had from the start.

Business History | Templeton Rye – Prohibition Era Whiskey

The aging process is done in Templeton. It is a sweet site to see all the T-Rye barrels in the warehouse!

"...The duo made countless calls and visits to distilleries across the United States before they made a fortuitous connection — finding a distiller, originally from nearby Breda, Iowa, who showed great interest in their endeavor. Feeling quite comfortable with this partner’s ability to consistently replicate the product to Meryl’s exacting standards, they reached an agreement.
This distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, continues to be their trusted distillation partner today — and Keith remains keenly involved in ensuring that each bottle meets the standard of quality that earned Templeton Rye its nickname of “The Good Stuff...â€￾

"...Having a solid distillation partner already in place, the team focused the Iowa distillery in Templeton on producing very unique and innovative products, like the Templeton Quasquicentennial Batch. This first product, distilled locally by Meryl and Keith, was sold as part of the town’s 125th Anniversary.
With the hope of harvesting a portion of their raw materials locally, they also planted rye in the fields adjacent to the distillery..."

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with this. Doesn't make the product any less 'Iowa.' It would be downright unfeasible to do any more 'distilling' that is already being done at the facility in Templeton. The quasqui batch (which was distilled in Templeton) was really, really good, IMO.

Chester's in DSM. I just got 2 bottles. call ahead to reserve. when i got there i was the only name on the list.

Yeah.. Yesterday when I reserved two it was $49 each. Today when they called me and I got there they told me it was $60 a bottle and that "the price just went up."

I passed. Not worth it to me and I won't do busness with a place that does that to customers.

I paid $60 at The Last Stop liquor store in Des Moines. I tend to not blame the store as much as Templeton Rye itself.

Interesting. They told me $49.00 on the phone at about 1:35pm this afternoon. I got there around 2:15 and it was still $49.00.

A buddy just emailed me and said that Tequila's Liquor Store off of East 14th kind of by the Capitol here in Des Moines has around 10 bottles...80 bucks a pop!!

This whole thing has turned into a joke, spent too much time this morning driving around Ames trying to find some. Ended up at Super Wally World buying one for 35.00. Next went to Hy Vee East and right there in front of my eyes right behind the counter was 10 cases! I asked how many I could buy at once and the ahole asks if I'm "on the list", what list?? The says he has been keeping a "list" for YEARS. Well no, I'm not on the "list", but I'm standing right here with my credit card and you have 60+ bottles 3 feet away, so sell me some!!
Time to move on to something else...

Anyone got any hot tips on where one could pick up a bottle of Templeton?

got one yesterday morning at the Wilson Hy Vee in CR. You might try the hy vee in washington or the Walmart there. I think the smaller towns will be better shot at finding it. I think most outlets got 10 cases. Binnies beverage has it online from their Chicao store for $50 shipped to you.
