Rob Howe just destroyed the KXNO

'
Really? REALLY? You respected him after the crap he pulled on Iowa STate, but it was an arguement about a possibly shady Iowa football program that sent you over the edge.

This is why our fans sometimes suck.

I hated what he did to John Walters. I'm a full Iowa State fan through and through. I go to every home football game and just about every home basketball game. So don't question my fan hood. I also believe it is very wrong to assume that someone knew what was going on when there is no proof that those two people hang out together.

Jeesh, too many of you guys listen to 1460 and threads like this shows his boss that. So, he'll never go away if these daily threads continue.
And why do I even post a response on this thread you ask? To hopefully sway some of you away from that clown and the station that employs him.

My guess is that wont happen. People who say they dont listen, more than likely do or else they wouldn't have such a strong respose in said thread. Including you, and for the record I listen.

I think rob went overboard over a minor dispute really

You are dead wrong. I stream 1700 all day at work minus an occasional email video. I've said numerous times on CF that I quit listening to 1460 the day Walters called him out.

Everyone in the black and gold is in total Defensive mode. They would argue anything for the sake of their program now that the all mighty Freerentz has spoken.

End thread right now. Matts a doosch but Rob Howe sounded like a giant *****. That question was in no way out of line. Typical Hawkeye reporters/message board owners who get miffed when someone ever ?"s Iowa and KF.

The question Matt asked was not out of line. The issue I had while listening was that he accused Ricky Stanzi of knowing that DJK was specifically using drugs. He later said he was using Ricky as an example but at the time he specifically said Stanzi over and over. I thought it was great radio. Rob took it too far and Matt came across as an immature ******. I thought he lost all high ground when he told Ken to cut Rob off.

I listened to the rest of the show and thought Matt came across as a immature baby.

As far as the issue about DJK and someone knowing. Someone almost had to have but Ken and Matt kept talking about how popular he was. He was extremely popular with the fans (including myself, I loved watching him play) but he was a 5th year senior who was never voted captain, never voted to the leadership council and lived with a non-football player. I remember taking my son down to the field at the spring practice last year and I watched DJK sit on his helmet on the sideline for about an hour and not one single teamate came over to talk to him. I am not sure he was all that popular with his teamates.

I really like the amount of work Matt puts into the show and I find him refreshing, but he is Marty Jr. I really feel bad for Ken as I think he is great.

On Matt P and Rob Howe

I have a question for you guys.......when you were in high school, did you have a good idea who most of the druggies were? I did. I knew, for the most part, who was doing drugs and who was doing a lot of drinking. I didn't do any of those things, but I knew who was.

A football team is like a small high school graduating class of 100. These guys know who is doing what even if thy aren't friends and don't hang out together.

Rob Howe said himself last week that teams are cliquey. One would assume that one of Iowa's cliques is the 'God fearing and hippie hating' one and one would the 'druggie' one and there would obviously be a lot more. So I'm guessing it was pretty obvious who was doing crap and who wasn't. This idea that we can't be sure that anyone knew that DJK liked his coke and pot is SO DAMN stupid. I bet 90% of that team knew that DJK was into drugs. Maybe not to the point that we now think he was, but they knew. That doesn't mean that they hung out with him or that they did things with him, but they knew what he was doing in his free time.

And then we get into the question that if a player knows, what should they do about it. I think that a team leader/captain has certain obligations to the team and maybe should give someone a heads up. I would hope that a coach would have that type of conversation with the captains on the team before the season.

I also think that every coach has an idea who their potential trouble makers are. And those guys should be kept on a shorter leash. For example, if I was KF and I didn't trust DJK not to run his mouth with the media, I might be curious who he is living with. I would suspect that Rhoads has an idea who on his team might have some issues.

Rob was ****** at Matt before he went on the air today. If I had to guess I would say Rob knew he was going to take off the gloves today with Matt before the interview even started.

Yep, seemed to be holding in some things from yesterday and that just hit the button.

Ok good for you, i dont care what you listen to.

Side note, you cant seriously sit through the crap fest that is Garmin/Cotlar/Roundguy hour or 2 can you? If you do stream 1700 all day.

lol, could this be the end of giggles?

Doubtful, not if Joel McCrea (KXNO GM) ever visits this site to see the amount of play he gets on here, and probably hawkeyenation as well. Not to mention the traffic that is probably downloading the podcast from kxno right now...

I think Howe looked worse for being the first to over-react and start throwing Matt under the bus. Not that Matt is the victim but I was listening as it went down and Rob basically bit on the bait and escalated the whole argument. Had he just taken the high road and either given a vague answer or just chose not to answer it and move on he would have looked like the bigger man but instead he engaged in a who said who argument and you aren't going to win one of those with Matt. Just refusing to stoop to his level would have pinned it all on Matt but instead he looked just as stupid for getting worked up and mud slinging back at him.

Howe shouldn't have acted like that. Hawk fans are just emotional right now becaue their program is heading toward the ******* very soon.

Matt keeps trying to change what he said. He called out Stanzi but keeps saying "someone on the team must know". Calling out Stanzi was the problem.
