Release: ISU Signs Oregon Big Man

Greg's son gave his word to UNI that he will play basketball for them. Would you have him now ignore that committment?

He gets more done in practice...where did I talk about game contribution from Bubu this past year?

Oh good, everybody loves a practice all-star. We needed guards all year, if he was killing it in practice, why did he not see the floor?

McDermott mentioned that Jordan can step outside and knock down the perimeter shot a bit. Didn't recall seeing this in any of his highlights but that would be great if he could knock down some threes with consistency.

We talkin about Practice? Not the game I go bust my *** for, but Practice?

McD probably just sunshine pumping. I wouldn't be surprised if JR has never even attempted a shot outside 10 feet.

kg, honest question for you. There is a lot of playing time on the court for ISU out there that is up for grabs, especially in the 4 and 5 spots, I think you would agree with that. Isn't it odd that our head coach has a son, that is fairly talented and there is no talk about him coming to play for his dad, now that all of these spots have opened up? I just find that highly interesting, that even McD's own son, seems to realize that UNI is better off right now and doesn't want to help get ISU on the right track. Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.

I think you'll find if you ask a serious question...I'm more willing to answer it.

I was scatching, clawing, pulling for us to sign Doug...Two things

Doug is a tweener in the Big 12...Looking at 2-3 years before contribution. Where as the MVC he can step right in and play.

And if Doug was your son...would you want him involved in this? See little Lick.

But back on topic, good for Jordan. In getting a scholarship to play Division I basketball, he has done more than 99 percent of your peers. Have a good Summer, and come to Ames ready to play...because WE WILL NEED YOU.

I saw him play 2 games in person. Never saw him take a 3 point shot. He played mostly with his back to the basket. He might shoot an occasional 10-12 footer. Does all right in close. Good defender. He needs to put on some weight and more importantly, some muscle. Has promise, but he will be a project.

For the last time, please keep this thread about Jordan Railey. We just signed a good recruit and kid, so lets talk about him.

I don't think people would have a problem with little lick playing if he was as good as Doug. It is the fact that he had NAIA talent and was getting playing time

It may be a part of his game the high school coach didn't embrace or maybe he has improved since you have seen him. Sunshine pumping or not, I now expect him to make some perimeter shots.

While giving Doug a scholly here now seems practical...it's true, he is in a no win situation. He will get lumped in with his dad's deficiencies and thats not fair to the kid. He will enjoy playing at UNI and will succeed where he can be his own player, not just the coaches kid.

Not here to bash the kid, since I've already said he has size and potential, but really? just because you heard McD say he may have a perimeter shot. and despite reports to the contrary, and it not being on his scouting report, you are ready to believe that he can make 3s?

I got some Hurricane insurance to sell you for your home in Omaha if so...
