Yeah, I'm not sure where they get that either. Honestly, I don't think he is even the 3rd best "big man" in Portland. No offense to him.......just being honest. Think that is a little too much hype.
Why give Bubu a scholarship? I just don't get it. If we can't sign a good guard this year then keep the scholarship for next year. Let's let him show something on the court before he gets a schollie
Channing Frye is the only American on your list the others had a different kind of hs experience, but its not uncommon for players to develop a shooting touch during their career, maybe something Jordan has already begun?

i count more then 10 ahead of him from california, oregon, and washington. that's not including arizona, so i don't get how they have him as the 3rd best either.
#4 josh smith from washington
#6 jeremy tyler from california
#7james johnson from california
#17 john gage from washington
#23 john mcarthur from california
#33 brandon cataldo from oregon
#43 john ryan from california
#55 steven adams from california
#57 dennis cramer from california
#65 reggie murphy from california
#71 dj haley from california
#72 jordan railey from oregon
that makes him 11th best on the west coast, 72nd best center overall.
Vanderbeken played in Canada.. It's much closer to America than Europe. Kyle Singler, Rasheed Wallace are others that come to mind. If you are a HS coach, and you can pull the other team's center out of the lane, why wouldn't you use that to your advantage?
If he ends up being a good perimeter shooter, great, I just have a tough time buying that he will be based on his current stats and scouting report.
Fair. I think we both have high hopes for Railey, but let's just not treat the word of Mac as gospel on a recruit.yeah i agree its advantageous when the bigs can hit threes but its simply not really coached at high school level and below for guys his size. thats mainly what we were saying. thats not to say there aren't guys that do it, you have named plenty, but I was just thinking maybe he can...and hasn't?? Or something like that...

Looking at some more Jordan's stats... from his junior year to his senior year, he improved markedly in virtually all areas. Scoring, FG and FT percentage, blocks, rebounding. Oh, and he was 0 for 3 from 3 point range his junior year.
He has a lot of potential. I think he needs to add a little bulk, and get in the weight room as soon as possible. I would describe him as a more athletic version of Ham his freshman year.
On ESPN he is rated about as high as Ejim, so I am not expecting him to be a project. we can't afford to recruit projects.

Yeah he does seem more athletic, quicker. Probably a better defender too at this stage.
Welcome Jordan! Look forward to seeing you in Hilton!
He was the 3rd best center. And the list where he was 3 came out in the fall before the season started I'm pretty sure.
