Next year and Kyle Kempt

If we learned anything this year, it was that the more capable QBs we have on the roster the better. If Kyle can get another year, that is great. Competition makes everyone better. Zeb will only be a soph. Nothing should be given. You have to earn it.

Kempt would be my starter next year and it's not even close. He did everything he could to beat KSU. He has 13 TDs, 3 INTs and 67% completion. Park and Noland are a ways behind statistically, and Kempt has faced the toughest teams on our schedule (including 3 on the road).

Arm strength is overrated in college football. Kempt has the kind of vision and decision making that I have not seen before at ISU. His poise reminds me of Tom Brady and his vision... of Kurt Warner. I am almost certain he will start in our bowl game and that means we have a great chance to win.

If kempt is the starter from day one we beat iowa for sure. I think we probably beat texas. Without Kempt there is no way we beat oklahoma or tcu. We would have been less competitive in the other games as well. Kyle is the MVP of this team and it is not close which is impressive giving how much talent this team has on it.

I compare Kempt to a version of Tom Brady/Chad Penningnton. Closer to Pennington. Kyle throws the back shoulder throw better than anyone i can remember. He also is brilliant at throwing to a spot and trusting his recievers will get there.

Just think if this guy was the starter and had a whole off season. I dont even think that this kid has reached his highest confidence level, yet!!!

Yeah this seems like a long shot to me. I like Kempt's decision making but the majority of his big throws and most TDs it was him throwing a jump ball to a talk WR. He did give them chances to catch them however. At the same time there were numerous deep balls that would have been easy TDs if he could have thrown over the top. He turned 3-4 would be 60 yard TDs into 25 yard jump balls.

Zeb's ability to throw down the field as a freshman was very impressive to me. His ceiling like park is much higher.

To me kempt right now has the highest floor however park and zeb have a much higher ceiling.

I agree. However if a high floor is what it takes to beat the OU's and TCU's of the world.......that's good enough for me.

This.

He literally would throw the ball up for grabs most time. Granted he did place some nice back shoulder throws, but he also had a few questionable ones there down in Manhattan.

You guys (@StLouisClone) are comparing a guy, who didn't play at JUCO and had to walk on to Iowa State, to TOM BRADY AND KURT WARNER? Come on.

Kempt did what he needed to do for this team to win, and I'm grateful for that. But there was a clear difference in play calling from having Kyle in there vs. having Zeb in there.

Sure it does, he would be filing a medical waiver for missing an entire season
A medical redshirt is an application to use your redshirt even though you played part of a season othere is you just use a regular redshirt (see Naz). There is no magic extra medical redshirt year you get on top of a regular redshirt. People confuse that with a medical hardship waiver for a 6th year of eligability. This requires missing all or most (2/3) of 2 seasons during 5 years. Hence, 2016 is one season but can he make the claim that he couldn't have played in 2013 due to injury? That is the question. People think it is a guarentee of 4 years of playing. It is not. Maybe Kyle had an injury that hampered him in his Freshman and JUCO year that wasn't publicized that kept him from playing but unless he has some good records it would be a long shot for him too. Park same deal. Has a claim on one year and maybe a mental health claim on an earlier year. All depends on documentation.

After this season, I've learned how important it is to have QB depth. Hope he can get it!

I agree with the depth.

Having KK back up Zeb, who has knee issues, would be a great have.

FWIW, I think Park will be back and will be in the mix to start again.

90% chance he is back.

Throw on top that not everyone just wants to be in school for six years if they aren't making it a career. Some people get tired of college

Yeah, I totally get it. The conversation was originally about Campos.

I think Park is done.
I said earlier I'd put it at 51% chance he returns. I say that because it can only help Campbell's situation if you keep him. He is already accounted for on next year's scholarships. He will add depth and experience. If he comes back and plays again it will be a feel good story Campbell can use recruiting. "Hey look how I got this kid's life back together."

But can also be a distraction if he has more issues. Campbell has shown he likes more game managers, even at Toledo he had that. I think Moore may be the determining factor on how he recovers. Also if there is a Juco that is willing to play partial snaps will make a difference. I think Zeb starts no matter what. If Park came back as a back up to Zeb, I would feel better than Park starting.
