NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Rogers-Mahomes has been the ultimate ships in the night matchup. Something that should have occurred anywhere from 2-4 times in the last couple of years has yet to happen. Between Mahomes hurting his knee in 2019, Rodgers with COVID in 2021, and the Packers flaming out in the NFC Championship in 2019 and 2020, the State Farm Bowl never came to be.

Not many Sunday Noon Central Time kickoffs for the Chiefs it appears:

Teams are capped at 6 prime time games and they've revealed 4 so far. They are going to have a Prime game too. Although, a chance the week 13 Packers game gets flexed if Jordan Love is less than advertised and the Packers stink.

I am excited that the Chiefs are so good, but it does stink for game times being all over the place.

Here is supposedly the Full Chiefs Schedule:

Week 1: Detroit (TNF)
Week 2: @ Jacksonville
Week 3: Chicago
Week 4: @NY Jets (SNF)
Week 5: @ Minnesota
Week 6: Denver (TNF)
Week 7: LA Chargers
Week 8: @ Denver
Week 9: Miami (Germany)
Week 10: BYE
Week 11: Philadelphia (MNF)
Week 12: @ Las Vegas
Week 13: @ Green Bay (SNF)
Week 14: Buffalo
Week 15: @ New England (MNF)
Week 16: Las Vegas
Week 17: Cincinnati
Week 18: @ LA Chargers

Anyone trying to go to the game in Frankfurt?

We registered for seats and hope it comes through. The $2500 for basically seats only through the travel company is pretty steep for a guaranteed seat and their hotel and travel packages are just too much for our family.

I'm hoping they are at least in the running for Hopkins. Adding an experienced WR to this group would help. I know they are tight on cap space right now but they can offer the chance to play for a Super Bowl on a 1 year deal. Toney, Moore, and Ross all have potential but that is all it is right now is unproven potential until they can string some consistent games together when it matters.

Chiefs have less than 700K in cap space, so they need to resign Jones to a long-term contract, pushing most of the money as either a signing bonus or down the road, thereby freeing up at least 4 to 5 million for Hopkins on a one-year deal.

Hopkins wants to play with a QB that will get him a super bowl, and there are only about 5 or 6 teams that really have a chance at that this coming season, Chiefs, Bills, Bengals led the way, with the Jets, 49ers, and maybe Ravens behind them. Sign Jones, do a one-year deal with Hopkins and see what happens, do that, and the Chiefs will have had on heck of an off-season.

I'm fine not adding Hopkins just to have a veteran since Kelce and MVS fill that role for the receivers anyway. Let this young group roll and see who rises to the top.

I think I am in this camp. Agree with @SEIOWA CLONE that getting Jones on a long-term extension is a priority. If that frees up cap space and Hopkins is willing to be reasonable, sign him. But he is at the end of his career. Is he really going to sign with the Chiefs for idk, $9 million, when OBJ got $15 mil? I think I am fine rolling with the crew we have if Hopkins doesn't happen.

If production from Ross is being counted on instead of thought as an added depth or gravy so to speak then we're putting a ton on Mahomes and Kelce. I expect teams to essentially do everything they can to take him away next year. Hill always prevented that and we had enough threats last year to cause similar concerns but as constructed this is maybe the worst wr unit in the league

Chiefs will have no problem whatsoever getting the money for Hopkins. There’s no reason to create cap space until Hopkins is ready to sign.
