I personally think the Nick kid, Frank Dillane, is going to be fantastic. Reminds me a lot of a young Johnny Depp both in looks and acting ability. I'm excited to see how the show progresses.
I think it was ok. I'm not a big fan of the main woman character who is in the movie Gone Girl. She was also in Deadwood.
Well the way it looks, this should spread rapidly, because every person that dies from here on should turn.
Guy on the freeway died in a car accident, he turned. Guy gets shot, he turns.
I thought they would make it so, at first, the only way to turn would be from being bitten. That would make the transition into to Zombie land slower and more drama, but now there should be Zombies popping up everywhere.
This is actually why i wish they started the show a bit earlier.
By the time we start seeing the show, this has actually been going on for some time, with the government trying to contain it. At very least the hospitals are in on it and likely the police are aware as well.
From the storysync feature AMC has, they showed a memo that was supposed to be from the world health organization directing hospitals on procedures. So at least early on they were trying to contain it, secretly. Thats why they rushed the guy downstairs when he died, and why that nurse didnt care at all when the kid escaped. She and the rest of the hospital had more important **** to worry about at the moment.
Agreed that the show should've started MUCH earlier. This show should focus on the virus development, the outbreak building steam and the fall of society. It seems like episode 2 of FTWD is already going to equate to episode 1 of TWD. A poster earlier said they hoped this didn't turn into TWD west coast style....and that's exactly what seems to be happening.

Didn't read much of the other posts, but had this thought:
Anyone think that since the opening scene starts in an abandoned church that perhaps "the disease" itself is somewhat biblical? (Created by God, started the beginning of the apocalypse.) Or, do you think that they will dive into how a virus spread from a mutation, or an airborne toxin, etc...?
If Cal removed all the bodies then how does that account for the two dead people plus zombie Gloria? An interesting theory i read regarding Cal:
Maybe the reason he wasnt answering Nick, and the reason he was cleaning out the van, and why the church zombies were missing was that he went into that church, killed everyone there, and dumped the bodies somewhere. That could also be why he was going to kill Nick, as he didnt want himself connected to the deaths there.

I dont think so. I think the church was just completely random. Im leaning more towards bio-tech, whether it was being designed as a weapon or it was designed to fight cancer or stave off disease in general. Could have been something to prolong life as well.
