Re: Fear of the Walking Dead?

I think amc is trolling tvland by having the main characters of this show drive around in Jesse Duke's pickup.

Re: Fear of the Walking Dead?

6/10 will watch episode 2

Re: Fear of the Walking Dead?

Decent. I hate the main actress from being in House of Cards so that doesn't help.

Re: Fear of the Walking Dead?

I'll give the premiere episode a 7/10. I figured it would be a character development episode, so I didn't really even expect any type of zombie action. Pretty excited for episode 2.

Not sure I'm really a fan of them making the zombie's eyes all weird and lit up though. It just seems like something a low rent zombie movie would do.

Re: Fear of the Walking Dead?

I thought it was a good start.

Also I second the thoughts on the main actress. Really do not like her in House of Cards, and same with this show so far.

Re: Fear of the Walking Dead?

Main actress = throat punch worthy

Main actress = the new Carl (likely hoping to see her die every episode)

Re: Fear of the Walking Dead?

Reviews are interesting. Seems to be a split where some people want things to be jumping to action sooner, where some want to explore the spread of the disease and the fall of society more.

Re: Fear of the Walking Dead?

Like most others, I was kind of meh. I thought it was really smart to skip the start of the apocalypse in the original. Made me wonder if a show about the start would work very well. After the first episode I am still wondering.

Yeah, if the original TWD starts off with an episode like this one, there's no way it takes off the way it did.
Now, that they have millions roped in and addicted, they can go back and show the fall of society. People will tune in just for that since they are curious.

As for me, I'm more interested in seeing how society falls and how fast this spreads, rather than watching zombies eat people. I'll get that in TWD season 6. Give me a nice long background buildup to the beginning of the end.

I'll be interested to see if they can provide an intriguing explanation for a bunch of slow zombies collapsing society. That's why I thought the original was smart to gloss over it. It just happened. Now they are going to have to come up with a detailed explanation for how a bunch of cannibals moving at a snails pace bring down society. Even the original Night of the Living Dead showed that people, in the end, would have no problem stopping these things once they figured out what was going on.

Well the way it looks, this should spread rapidly, because every person that dies from here on should turn.

Guy on the freeway died in a car accident, he turned. Guy gets shot, he turns.

I thought they would make it so, at first, the only way to turn would be from being bitten. That would make the transition into to Zombie land slower and more drama, but now there should be Zombies popping up everywhere.

Re: Fear of the Walking Dead?

Also, wouldn't those cops that were attacked by the walker on the freeway be turning into Zombies?

The problem is that no matter how you die you turn unless you're shot in the head. I think that makes it a little more understandable how things could get out of control so fast.

Add to that the fact that the people who will see death and reanimation more quickly than anyone else will likely be first responders (fire, police & paramedics) and medical staff at hospitals & trauma centers, and a breakdown will happen more quickly...no one to maintain order, and no one to treat the moderately injured or sick to keep them from dying.

Re: Fear of the Walking Dead?

I like the characters, they did a good job developing them in the pilot. I expected the plot would progress quicker and the pilot would show the fall of society. Looks like they will actually explore that over the course of the season, which could be quite a bit cooler if done right.
