COACHING SEARCH: Thanksgiving night update

I am watching WMU now. Fleck seems cocky/arrogant like Harbaugh and the Chiz. 180 from CPR. It would not bother me to lose him in 2-3 years when he moves up the ladder. That being said, he is driven and results oriented, and doesn't seem to accept or give out excuses.

If that's the case (cocky/arrogant), I doubt if you have to worry about Pollard hiring him. I initially liked him when I heard about his relentless recruiting, but you guys are all talking me out of it. Which is fine.

I'm still on Alford, Frost, Campbell and Fritz.

Stitt - I wouldn't mind but listening to his Montana presser he says that (and I am paraphrasing) "Montana is better than 50% of the FBS level jobs and I am not interested in those". He seems really picky on where he wants to go and I don't think ISU is on that list.

Liepold - puke, I am sick just thinking about him as our coach.

Fleck - seems like Lane Kiffin 2.0, a real DB that will pull a "Chiz" and leave after 1 or 2 years even if he doesn't have success here.

Actually, Fleck is worse than Chiz, he took a position with NIU and then the very next day resigned and took a position with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Fleck is all hype and emotion and corny phrases and corny mottoes. It may work a little bit or for a while but seems quite high-schoolish. The more I study him, his tweets, his videos, his ego and the game that is on now, I don't think he'd be a good fit for us.

The fact that many of you don't like Fleck's personality/recruiting, tells me he is perfect for ISU. This isn't about being best friends who go to bible study together on Wednesday night. This is about ******* wins at any cost.

one player versus 23 go figure? Integrity and i doubt way late was two weeks before siging day but hey we agree to disagree i just feel like he has some major red flags and is not a ISU guy.

ISU guy meaning choosing being nice over winning and valuing moral victories over actual results?

Why are people so worried about these guys leaving in a couple years? If they leave and the program is in better shape than when they got here, then WHO CARES? It's going to happen. We are not a destination program.

because people are afraid their best friend will move to another school and they won't have anyone to play with at recess!

ISU's fanbase places more importance on "values" than wins (jackoff motion)

Oh come on..how many kids that are borderline recruits for the top programs in country get a ship pulled last minute for a better recruit? Happens all time. I'm not saying it's great just reality. I'd bet half of our commits are putting feelers out just in case..so it's ok for them to do that?

Really doesnt happen all the time 2 WEEKS BEFORE SIGNING DAY unless somehow the kids has a change of heart. If its so frequent why are sooooooo many coaches in favor of an early siging period so they dont have to baby sit kids after they are already commited. Face it its not a common practice and lack integrity. The only tme i have heard of it so close to signing day is when the kid gets in trouble arrested of something which is understandable.

Im with you Curt Im trying to school them on Fleck SMH.

That is the big if. Fleck would likely be worse than Chizik in that regard.

The other candidates, sure, hope they come in and have success. If they leave after that, who cares.

The only proper way to ***** these coaches is to imagine if they played ISU with their current staff on a neutral field and ask yourself if they would beat ISU. If the answer is a resounding NO then move on.

Not that I agree with this, but out of curiosity...

Navy (-9) vs ISU
Toledo (-5) vs ISU
Air Force (-0.5) vs ISU
Georgia Southern (pick'em) vs ISU
Northern Illinois (+1.5) vs ISU
Western Michigan (+3) vs ISU
Buffalo (+13) vs ISU

If today's Navy-Houston game is any indication how Navy's coach would fare against the spread teams of the Big 12, then I'll pass.

Houston is up 45-24, and Navy has no chance to make a game out of it because they don't really throw the ball. If we were to run the triple option in the Big 12, we had better hope we don't get down early because it's ballgame. And I'm not confident we can stop Big 12 offenses from scoring.

We are going to need a much more balanced attack. I agree we need to run more than pass, but we will need to have a passing game too if we ever need to come back in games.
