COACHING SEARCH: Thanksgiving night update

How would she know if JP is making a connection or not? Did she book the flight or follow him outside the airport, or did she say she asked him directly?

Because he was flying there from Ohare. There isn't anywhere you can fly to from Detroit that you can't fly to from Ohare.

Still waiting for the update

Anybody who's not an "Iowa State guy", will probably react to a job offer like this.

Footballscoop.com reporting this morning that TCU offensive coordinator Doug Meacham and UNC assistant Seth Littrell are the finalists to replace Mac at North Texas.

It isn't really relevant to the ISU search, as I think it is fairly obvious that JP is focusing on guys who have been a head coach previously. But there were some who thought Meacham might be worth of a P5 jump this year if lots of jobs opened up.

It could get nuts if LSU fails to come to their senses and cans Les Miles. Many shifts could happen that would ripple down through the rest of the bowl subdivision and could push the number of open jobs to over 30 as a result. I honestly think that if LSU doesn't have a deal with Jimbo Fisher to leave FSU done in advance, they won't go through with it.

That is probably the scenario that leads JP to hire the Buffalo coach, though.

SI predicts that we will hire Matt Campbell:

IOWA STATE: Athletic director Jamie Pollard made it clear that he wants a sitting head coach for this job. While that's a gutsy move at one of the most challenging jobs in the nation, it's shaping up to be a surprisingly strong field for the Cyclones. Toledo's Matt Campbell, Bowling Green's Dino Babers, Georgia Southern's Willie Fritz and Navy's Ken Niumatalolo are the top candidates. Pollard wisely has put the search in overdrive, with interviews expected to play out over the next few days. (There's some secondary interest in Western Kentucky coach Jeff Brohm, but he's not expected to interview anywhere until after the Conference USA title game on Dec. 5).
Pollard has the benefit of having seen Campbell's Toledo teams play in person the past two years. Toledo beat Iowa State in double overtime, 30—23, this season and lost to the Cyclones, 37—30, in 2014. All the candidates bring a distinct style on offense, so some of Pollard's choice may come down to what he wants to see in Ames. Niumatalolo's triple option? Fritz's hybrid triple option from the shotgun and pistol? Babers' spread? Or Campbell's run-heavy blend of pro style and spread concepts?
Prediction: Matt Campbell

I like what I saw from Brohm at WKU today. But there are a lot of quality lower level guys, problem is getting the right one.
Yep. Do we have an AD that knows football well enough to get it right? Or at least put his pride aside and rely on the input of others?

Brady Hoke interested in the job, per Bruce Feldman on FS1.

I am sure he is.
