CGC..

The fans that think they want to win more than the players are the dipshits that are wrong with sports. You may THINK you want it more, but they have so much more invested than a fan that thinks they are invested from spending money on the program. I desperately want us to win, but realize it's just a wish and I have nothing to do with it.

There is no thinking, only knowing.

No you don't. I played college basketball I can tell you I wanted to win far more than any damn person watching...I didn't work my *** off to get better so some fan could feel all good for 24 hours after my performance.

They're just messing with you. Any fool knows those whose blood sweat and tears are involved are far more invested in winning than any fat slob watching on TV. Also for those doubting this team based on last year, why don't we just wait for that adversity to hit this team and then judge them based on their response. You only have to wait a few weeks.

Stormin, if I tried really hard could I make you laugh? Could I make you crack a smile? Or is it your lot in life to sit in this forum, cross your arms, purse your lips and scold anyone who you think steps out of line? I'm a little worried about you.

If you were funny. But you are not. You are just a jack ***.

Then you had the wrong attitude. Respect your fans.

IMO, the Cyclone players have been respectful of the Cyclone fans. What I see is a lot of Cyclone fans disrespectful of the Cyclone players because of a lack of success.

We apparently bought a record number of tickets, what more do you want?

After they admitted they folded up shop and quit last year...

Stormin needs to get over this high and mighty crap. ISU fans are likely the most loyal fans in the country. The amount of marginal success the team has had does not warrant the fantastic fan support they have. Just so ignorant.

Yup, you are right. We are the most loyal fans in the nation. Let me tell you this though. These football players are kids. They have fessed up about their giving up problems and they are wanting to change that mindset. Give these kids a chance to show what they can do. They are still growing up but I've heard the comments the fans make. Go sit in a student section for a day. It makes you want to cringe for what they say to the kids. HECK, I would want to give up if I were them too!! We are loyal but very unforgiving at times. These players live in a very unforgiving world, especially with stupid college students. Students can be mean, rude and say extremely hurtful things. Look up Sam Richardson's interview. People are not as nice as you think. To think that we are always nice to these players and don't say anything bad to them is an arrogant way to think nickcyv...........

I have followed this forum for several years and if there is one thing that amazes me is that many are on an Iowa State Forum and are bashing the programs. True Iowa State fans are fans through thick and thin. While winning is something you want, athletics provide much more for their fans. It is an opportunity to cheer for their team, and opportunity to get back to their alma mater, an opportunity for some good fellowship and during football season, tailgating. I look forward to the football and basketball seasons whether or not they may win any games. Am I happy when they win, sure, who wouldn't be? But it's like during the fourth quarter and we are down two touchdowns, I rout twice as hard and yell loud enough for the players to hear that I am still behind the team. Go Cyclones.

They are division 1 athletes getting a full ride and not a single person is saying anything cruel about them. They are in the public spotlight and were one of the worst teams in the country last year. They are going to have to take some criticism on their poor play. No one is condemning them to perpetual failure but few believe a change in attitude before the season starts is simply going to elevate them to a bowl team.

Everyone here, negative or rustshack optimistic, wants ISU to win every single game in all sports. I promise you this.

The Cyclone FB program has the best fan support to win ratio of any football program. Cyclone fans have stuck with the program through so many years of losing. We are still sticking with them after two straight disastrous seasons. That is pretty damn good. What more do you want?

I assume that what is "wanted" is for the negative minority to tone it down a bit--and not come along and spoil every positive thread that gets started.

Just my guess.

Let me chime in.

First, I believe, not think but believe, ISU will be the conference surprise team this year based on Mangino being in his second, a fine senior quarterback, and perhaps the best receiving corps in the league. I see State starting 4-1, winning a couple more in-conference, and going to a bowl.

As to fans here, they're no different than our major site. We both have a range from Messrs. Kool-aid to internal trolls bent on creating havoc. I'm telling you, it's absolutely the same. Only the laundry is different.

Best thing is for the season to start with a couple wins over in-state rivals and all will be well for awhile. That will carry you to hoops' season.

This is a different team than last year. Buying tickets is not a sign of showing respect to our players. You obviously know little about showing respect. You probably think that you can provide for food and shelter for loved ones while verbally abusing them means you are showing them respect. It doesn't.

Exactly. Positive comments and optimism are met with derision and insults to those who post those thoughts. WHY are the Negative Nancy's and Debbie Downer's so intent on crushing enthusiasm?

Who is verbally abusing people? I have no idea what you are talking about.

He called me a Jack***, does that count?

You made this comment. Observation made of you sounds accurate.
