I should have rephrased my post, or at least elaborated. I am fine with him sitting players that don't follow his system, but that is 5 players in 2 years. It just seems to me, that if it is happening continuously, and not much being changed because of it, it may be the system in place. Maybe a serious sit down at the beginning of their time at ISU, to talk them through exactly what is expected of them, and if they don't abide by the rules you are subject to sit 'x' amount of games. I am completely fine with the idea of sitting kids down who don't fit into the culture he is trying to build, but it has happened more than my liking. I probably jumped the gun on implying it was Prohms fault, but I think there is either some disconnect between what is expected and what is thought to be expected, or we aren't bringing in the right guys that fit our system. That's not Prohm's problem, that's the player's problem for not doing what is expected of them.
This is Prohm's team and he has expectations for his players.
I know Prohm catches flack for not yelling at the refs and such, but I bet in a closed practice he isn't afraid to get pissed. He just prefers to keep it out of the public.
I don't really have an issue with them going out to be themselves once in a while, but it's really not that hard to just not get in trouble for something stupid.Something I never get, guys wanting to be taken seriously as athletes yet not being serious enough themselves to stay out of bars during the height of a season.
I can respect standards but there seems to be a bigger issue.
Carter-Suspended
Holden-Suspended or sat the bench
Bowie-suspended
Burton-Up & Down relationship
Young-I know there is a fair amount of rumors but hope he can stay on the court and develop
I'm sure there is legit reasons they are suspended but this is not a positive sign. I'm sure there is numerous people on that bench that question their role on the team and are frustrated.
Or maybe we have an inordinate amount of players who are self-absorbed and/or bristle under rules or authority?I can respect standards but there seems to be a bigger issue.

Back-2-back years where there has been issues with players and coach. I fell like this is heading in the same direction as McDoormat years.
Who's to say that doesn't happen when they first get to Iowa State? It wouldn't be the first time a college student did something like that.I should have rephrased my post, or at least elaborated. This isn't something detrimental to the team, a game suspension, but isn't a look I want to continue.
To be safe you should probably open a bottle of wine as well.Gotta go workout. Will check back later. Say around 6:30?
Should I make popcorn first?
Holden- clearly I stated that he "sat the bench or was suspended", never stated which one. There was obviously and issue there. Burton has had his up's and down's with coach this is well known. This post is simply not factual.
1. Holden was never suspended. He wasn't playing because he wasn't practicing well and was giving us nothing in games. Then he talked to Prohm and figured out what he needed to do.
2. Burton and Prohm have not had an up and down relationship and I have no idea where you are pulling this out of.
Carter suspended is true but that's what happens when you smoke weed.

Well shoot. My friend & I were just looking at the schedule last week to get it on our calendars. Pooh! Learn anything interesting?Kevin Jackson was originally listed. I only knew it was Prohm because I looked it up on the website to find the location and to see if they were still having Jackson be there.
Also, Kevin Jackson is now listed for the March lunch, but John Walters said they were going to have student-athletes TBA.
We're not trending in the right direction that's for sure.I really wish people would take a step back and really compare Prohm and McDermott. We are nowhere close to the McDermott years, and its flat out stupid to even try and draw a comparison.
totally could be the case, just hadn't heard any indication of that, so I am assuming(yes, I know what they say). And I totally get that happening once or twice in the first year, but these seem like minimal offenses (not like the KU situation or anything) and they continue to happen. A player like Simeon Carter, being in the system for 2 years now, and Darrell Bowie, brought on to be a veteran presence with cbb experience, shouldn't be in these situations if something like that takes place. Or they aren't a good fit, personality-wise, for the culture Prohm is trying to build. That is all I was trying to sayWho's to say that doesn't happen when they first get to Iowa State? It wouldn't be the first time a college student did something like that.

It seems what gives ISU the best chance to win is a combo of Holden/Bowie/Young contributing.
