Bowie suspended

Make it 2 or 3. Disappointing the lack of urgency we are displaying especially with such a senior laden team.

Do the guys realize we might not make the tourney?

Bowie suspended? No big deal. We move Monte to post because he's a leading rebounder. Start Carter at point guard. Carter heaves up 10 or 12 100 footers against KU, misses, and Monte gets rebounds and scores. Go it all covered.

(Slapping forehead) Sheesh! Why didn't we think of this back in November?????

I'd rather see Stu chucking, but I like the way you think.

No way this would ever work. First of all you've got...well, wait. And there's no way you could possibly, well, just a second...

[20 Minutes of Deep Thought Later]

By God you're brilliant!

Do you think Prohm is sending a message to the Big 12 in relation to how another particular school is handling its discipline issues? He is definitely claiming the moral high ground. The timing with the report yesterday of another KU felony-level incident is interesting.

Holden- clearly I stated that he "sat the bench or was suspended", never stated which one. There was obviously and issue there. Burton has had his up's and down's with coach this is well known.

I clearly stated that I had sex with my girlfriend or Kate Upton, never stated which one. I don't see what the issue is here.

Rumors on here with Carter was that it was drug related - college kids do drugs, which is pretty normal. Drugs are against team rules so he got suspended for doing drugs, pretty normal.

Holden - iffy playing time does not = suspended and we have yet to see how this story completely plays out.

Bowie - not sure on the details right now.

Burton - that dude is up and down with everything isn't he?

I guess I see a bunch of "normal college basketball player stuff" here and nothing like you are suggesting.

Prohm has raved about Burton and his dedication since last spring. Burton also plays his balls off a lot of the time. Now, there's a lot he does wrong, but it's not for lack of effort most of the time. Against WVU he was all over the place.

Anyway, I think Prohm is a coach that expects you to figure your own **** out and figure out what you need to do to carve out a role. If you don't, someone else will. He'll tell you what you need to do but you need to ask the right questions or get it figured out. He's not holding your hand but he's holding you accountable.

Yes, sitting Darrell Bowie will really give notice to the conference.

Meh. He has been next to useless the last few games, and all this does is increase Holden and Young's minutes, which should be happening anyways. Hopefully both of those two dont end up in foul trouble...

Um, Stu?

I don't agree with what Prohm does in-game but can appreciate him holding expectations up high and holding the players accountable for not meeting them.

Maybe this interjects some good stuff, or maybe it doesn't make much difference. KU and other teams have seemed to have gotten better while I can't say the same for ISU.

Just don't get these guys. Not saying with him we can compete with Kansas there anyway but how do you let your team down when they all need to play at the highest level every game if they have any shot at all to get to the NCAA tournament?

Because these are all KIDS and KIDS make poor decisions once in awhile. As do adults too by the way.

We'd rather have accountability than someone who knows how to get the most out of players here at Iowa State.

You'd rather have a coach that gets told by his star player on national TV "F*** you"? Real players coach right there - lots of respect our former lord and savior commands in the Bulls lockerroom. But it's easier to have your players tell you to "f*** off" than recruit I guess.

Not necessarily to the Big 12, but certainly to his own players. Some (Holden, Burton) can use it to better themselves, others (Bowie) are maybe a little too self-absorbed.

Wasn't there a post about Bowie sitting on the bench with a towel over his head in a recent game, and one of the assistants angrily removing it and throwing it on the floor? Don't doubt for a minute that Prohm missed that.
