How Bad is ReCe DaViS?

But your argument is stupid. As of yesterday, we had the resume of a #6 team. No one is arguing that Iowa State should be in the playoffs right now. Hell most of us won't be mad if we win and don't make the playoffs. Rece's argument is that Iowa State doesn't belong where they are right now. He's bitched for 3 weeks straight (when I started paying attention) that Iowa State is over rated and there's no way that a number of teams shouldn't be ahead of us. And that's just a crap argument. I think that is an interesting discussion and I'll say that the committee has been fair with us. But he's not having an intellectual discussion over several teams that could be ranked from 5-10. He's flat out saying that there's no way we should be 9 or 7 or 6.

He would lose his ******* mind if we got to #4. I mean the coronary might kill him. And if he was simply making the argument that no matter what we do on Saturday and no matter what else happens on Saturday, we shouldn't be in the playoffs, that's cool with me. But when he argues that we shouldn't be top 10 or hell top 15, then that's where we have a problem.

He has ISU at 9 in his AP. He has Coastal, Cincy and Indiana above ISU.

Of course having Indiana above ISU proves he's a ******* moron. Indiana's resume:
- Benefit from a blown call to beat awful PSU in OT
- Have a backdoor cover to get close to OSU after OSU got bored and Day made some terrible decisions to get cute and go for it rather than put the game away by kicking FGs
- Beat 5 teams with losing records.

Indiana is a fraud. A complete fraud. WVU is better than any team Indiana beat. While ISU was dismantling a decent WVU team, Indiana was in dogfights with bad Maryland and Wisconsin teams.

Just my opinion, but who would give Bama the best game in the semi (if ND beats Clemson)? I would 100% say that Clemson would. ISU may be second. OU (with a win) would be right there with ISU. ATM we've seen it before. Cincy would get destroyed. FL is getting their chance Saturday.

I think that Clemson could stay within 2 TDs of Bama. ISU could probably stay within 3 TDs. Look, I understand that the national media loves all these discussions and complaining, but it's pretty much going to be a bloodbath whoever plays Bama. They are nearing LSU levels last year. I'd be extremely happy with a win Saturday and a Cotton Bowl against ATM.

There is theory out there that says the CFP Committee is pushing us up so if we lose to Oklahoma they can push them into the CFP because it would be another blue blood with a huge following. It would make the CFP four teams of Bama, ND, Clemson, Ohio State and Oklahoma. Pretty much the same teams over and over and over again. They started the CFP to get some diversity at the top, but it is the same teams every time. Like many said, our story should be one used to say "Hey the CFP works!" but instead they're mocking us.

I considered this as well. OU beating us would prop them up into the playoff conversation more that us beating OU, which makes no sense. They are basically saying that losing to Louisiana is worse than losing to KState this year.

The timing of the games this year is playing a HUGE role in some of the outcomes. Had we swapped dates with Oklahoma, the games versus KState and Okie State would almost certainly have been different. I think we would have beaten both teams (with Kstate being a much closer game) and Oklahoma would probably have also won both games (with Okie State being a MUCH closer game).

But we're not paying attention to the eye test unless we're discussing tOSU.

I would love to play Indiana in a NY6 bowl.

Not to mention, they played tOSU when they were healthy. They are not the same team they were then.

Reece has ISU ranked #9 and Louisiana ranked #18. I would at least respect his opinion if he rated Louisiana ahead of ISU. That would not bother me one bit.

Something else I would like discussed by the panel:

Cincinnati's 8-0 schedule vs. Iowa State's 8 wins.

Ohio State's 5-0 schedule vs. ISU's last five games played (5-0).

Either way, not worried about the ass clowns and thank goodness for the Bear! He literally will not have to buy a beer in Iowa again unless he accidentally goes to a Hok Tavern.

Let's Go State! Beat the Sooners, AGAIN!

What’s with the childish caps in the middle of his name? Are you twelve?

Let Davis be the one who’s being immature.
So suggesting a nutsack in the middle of his name might be immature too?

I haven't followed what he has said the past few weeks too closely nor do I really care to let whatever any media pundit says affect my mood. Anyone can make a case why we shouldn't be ranked as high as we are just like I can make a case that I don't think tOSU should be ranked 4th. It doesn't make the opinions fact or make them right or wrong. let's say you flip the records and ISU is at 8-0 and Cincy is 8-2 and ranked ahead of us. That is a legit argument that an undefeated team should not be ranked 9th while a 2 loss team is at 6th. Costal Carolina probably has reason to be upset that they are 11-0 and can't even crack the top 10. I get it, their competition is not the same as the Big 12 but they still have accomplished something we were not able to which is win every game they played.

I could care less what Rece Davis or anyone is saying right now. After this weekend is the only thing that really matters, no one is going to give a damn about what the CFP rankings were the past 3 weeks, they will only care about the final rankings after this the games this weekend and who makes it into the top 4 and who doesn't. Where you stand in the 5-10 rankings after that really becomes irrelevant and splitting hairs on why 1 team is ranked 8th and not 6th or something. My mind is on the Big 12 Championship game right now because all this is just talk and nothing else right now. Let's play the game and see where we stand afterwards on Saturday then you can obsess on the rankings again.

And the funny thing is they were the same team that needed a blown call to sneak past PSU in OT and was getting all they could handle from Maryland before Penix went out.

Interesting that OSU couldn't stop Penix, while Maryland completely shut him down before the injury.

100% agree. They haven't beaten a team that has a .500 or better record.

Indiana (6-1)
  • Maryland (2-3) W
  • @ Wisconsin (2-3) W
  • Michigan (2-4) W
  • Penn State (3-5) W
  • @ Rutgers (3-5) W
  • @ Michigan State (2-5) W
  • @ Ohio State (5-0) L

In the past, Rece Davis has been the one in the ESPN room to offer another viewpoint to the SEC lovefest of the other ESPN talking heads. But what the heck has gotten into him with the voracity against Iowa State? I guess Iowa State is the lighting rod for this guy and others due to Cincinnati dropping. Plus, we don't have a brand name. Cincinnati is excellent, and I think they and the G5 are getting the shaft. But Rece has gotten to lighten up. He made his point, but he doesn't have to keep hammering it home.

What's funny is the more he ******* the higher ISU gets ranked! Maybe the CFP Committee just doesn't like Rece Davis? Let's Go State!

The media is freaking out over the chance that the blue bloods will not make up the final four. Reece Davis, then the Dan Patrick show today. Do any of these guys remember that if it isn't OU or Texas the Big 12 gets left out? TCU, Baylor in 2015. Having to win your conference to be in a 4 team playoff would stop a lot of the ********. Play your way in.
