How Bad is ReCe DaViS?

Do you think we are the 6th best team in the country? It just seems that we struggle too often, and win games by to close of a margin to be rated that high. Look at UT, OU and a couple of others. To me the 6th ranked team should be laying the wood to teams, like we did to WV and KSU. We are having the type of season EIU had in 2015, keep on winning, beating good but not great teams, and keep moving up in the rankings. We caught OU early in the season, UT have been up and down all year, sometimes a team needs a few breaks along the way. Last year, the ball bounced the other way and we had a lot of close loses, this year its bouncing our way.
We have had a great season, but Saturday Vegas has us as a 7 point underdog to OU. Can we win, sure we are playing very well, but no way in hell would I bet more than a few bucks on the outcome.

You still make very little sense. Take out the top 4 teams. Every other team has struggled with good teams on their schedule—many have lost. And, yes, the ball has bounced our way at times. Again, in general, highly ranked teams usually have that happen. (ND lucked out with Lawrence missing their game and they still barely won.) And maybe we caught OU and TX at good times or maybe we played a part in them not being as good that day. And I’d contend we caught Oklahoma mad and we caught Texas desperate, so that argument isn’t exactly a slam dunk. And we are playing the number #10 ranked team on a neutral field who is a bigger brand, not surprising they’d be favored. And it wouldn’t invalidate our current ranking if they won.

I would be fine with being ranked 5-10. But to say we are overrated at 6 is loser talk. No team has a slam dunk case to say they should be ranked ahead of us.

Also, no one is saying that lots of teams don’t have better recruits. That’s why their recruiting classes were rated higher. Our TEAM is better.

And none of this changes if we lose 56-0 on Saturday. We would, of course, drop in the rankings, but it would not change the fact that this week we earned the #6 spot.

Yeah, vs A&M in particular I would take us, I LOVE the matchup of our run D vs their offense, and especially Mond vs our rather unique defensive scheme. Jimbo is a great coach, but I'll lay my cards on Heacock 7 days a week and twice on sunday

After watching every minute of every game we still make silly mistakes, though that is getting fewer and fewer. Against the better teams we played we started in a hole and had to fight our way back up, UT, OU to name a few.
Purdy has played great the last 3.5 games, before that, he was shaky as hell. We seem to want to set up Hall to start every game, and teams are just laying for it. How about Saturday we fake the ball to Hall and have Purdy fly around the corner a few times, and then start feeding Hall after their back side defense has to stay at home.

The only way that we defeat the top four teams is we play without any mistakes and they play poorly. I am not even sure that would matter against Alabama, they are just a machine, and will win the championship easily, unless they repeatedly turn the ball over, talking like 4 or 5 times, not a couple.

We are a VERY good team, but the gap between us and the top 3 or 4 teams is huge.

The only way you can answer that is by naming teams that should be above that are not. Then look at their resumes and how they have played. It’s really hard to make a case for teams to jump us.

Have you seen him play? He is the definition of feast or famine. He's got a game where he hit 11/34, 13/23, 17/28, etc this year. He's much better this year, but last year he had a lot of sub 60% completion rate games including one where he threw 10/30. I've seen him play a few times since my BIL is an A&M alumn, and he inexplicably over throws wide open receivers and throws the ball short into the ground on other attempts. Yes, he sucks.

And you realize that a high amount of sports writers either never played football or quit before HS and would struggle to explain the difference between a free safety and a strong safety. They routinely insult our defensive scheme and yammer about how it is awful that we don’t get enough QB pressure with our DLine, which shows they don’t understand the assignments of our Dline.

Did you watch Purdy play games up through the first half of the Baylor game?
People were saying on the radio he must be hurt, the way he is playing.

You can't say one player sucks, when the other player has basically the same stats.

Hell I was just watching the KU/TT basketball game, Jay Bilas just said it was a joke that ISU was 6th in the country. I get he is a basketball announcer, but that is the feeling out there by many.
Like I said before, we are playing well, we got our bad loss out of the way the first week, and have improved as the season went on. We now have to go out and show everyone that they are wrong, and beat OU.

Hell I was just watching the KU/TT basketball game, Jay Bilas just said it was a joke that ISU was 6th in the country. I get he is a basketball announcer, but that is the feeling out there by many.

I doubt he has watched a single Iowa State football game this year. 'Twould like to see the look on his face if he saw the All-Big Xii selections. It's really odd the amount of faux outrage about Iowa State at this point and time. One of the most unassuming programs in one of the less respected conferences and all this disdain.
