Wigginton

After yesterday I’m not sure Id want it in Lindell’s either. His missed ft looked rushed and wasn’t even close. Also that last prayer from 35 feet with 2.9 seconds left was an awful decision.

I'm gonna keep posting this but imo Hali can do some things when he gets to the lane but typically kicks it, or worse gets in the air and looks for someone.

Not saying he should be the go-to in the clutch but viable option for a high percentage shot if he's more aggressive.

Not sure if there was time for that or not the other day but if he was that open it was possible with an accurate pass and quick spot up to the lane.

We have no offense or late game strategy. That’s what lost this game.

Babb needs his PG minutes reduced; much too passive and stagnates the offense.

This. I love Nick, and he brings so much to the game, but his body language sometimes just isn't conducive to the game. Drives me nuts when he brings the ball up so slowly, dribbles at the top of the key forever, and then has to create something when the shot clock runs down.

I mean, it was pretty obvious Saturday that up-tempo, attacking basketball was what got us into the lead. Let the defense set up? Why? Run at them, make them get out of what they are comfortable with. NWB just didn't want that, he walked the ball up almost every time.

If Coach Prohm had wanted it pushed, it would have been pushed.

Look at us. We're so blinded by rage that we've forgotten what's important about this thread.

Classic Thread Title

It's actually winner for the nicest postgame thread title (which is why I typically start a postgame thread and delete the other ones in the wake of a loss). Too mad, shirked my mod duties and took a nap

Regarding Lindell, he needs to rediscover his 10 foot pull up jumper. That thing was lethal last year. Seems likes now all he wants to do is take a 3 or draw contact at the rim. With his ability to stop on a dime and rise up, he needs to utilize that 7-10 foot pull up jumper.

Also, count me in on reducing Babb's minutes some. I think it's best for everyone involved. His leg issues are well know-- he would no doubt benefit from some rest. Plus, having someone at the point who can't turn the corner on a drive really hurts our offense. He's a solid all around player, but I've just never been sold on him at the point due to his lack of quickness.

He will go pro after this year no matter what because the fans have turned on him

The injury was a real bummer because I think he's a much better player than what he's showing.

However, he's playing poorly right now. Not just on offense which is understandable, but to be as good of an athlete as he is and as bad of a defender as he is just doesn't make any sense.

Nick plays defense. Nick's offense has been MUCH better than Wigginton's this year. Nick is suffering from the dumb fan "doesn't sweat enough" problem. Weiler-Babb isn't doing anything that Prohm doesn't want him to do.

Foot injury. Has lost some of his lateral quickness. As that comes back, his d will improve too.

Prohm has them playing way too slow. This isn't a half court team. They don't have a low post scoring presence. They need to be running and pushing tempo. This is the slowest temp they have had since 2009. It is also why I think some of ISU's kenpom numbers are inflated. It tends to be more favorable to slower teams and while he has adjusted to counteract that over the years, I believe it still does to some extent.

This game, and several others in his tenure. This really is CSP's weak spot - when the game is tight and the players get tight, he doesn't have any answers.

Ironically, this was one of CFH's strengths - going 2 for 1 on possessions at end of halves, having a play set up for the last 4 seconds, in-bounds plays, etc. Situational basketball, I think he called it, and they practiced it a lot (much more than defense LOL).

CSP does not seem to spend any time on these things, and it seems like it would be a fairly easy thing to add to practice. Would help the players be ready to know what to do and succeed in late game situations.

I hope CSP figures this out, because he is a hell of a recruiter, good defensive coach, and seems to be good with player development too.

My only gripe with LW is he needs to get the ALPHA attitude back like he had last year and take over the game. Right now he is being to passive (but so are most of the guys on the team). We need him being aggressive and getting in the lane because it seems like everyone else on the team is afraid of contact.

I think LW's alpha attitude will come back when Prohm starts him and tells him to lead the team.

I'm not arguing with anything you've said here. I was agreeing with NWB's point minutes being reduced, not his overall minutes. He has a good an offensive skill set as anyone on the team.

And Wigginton obviously isn't at full strength yet - I understand CSP wanted the offense to go at KSU without a timeout, but that clearly wasn't the best shot we could have gotten.

I do believe that NWB defense is a little overrated. He can get pretty lazy on 3 point defense and he didn’t exactly come to play defensively against Makai Mason.
