What's the story here?
I think my problem with rushing the field/court is that we are basically admitting that we didn't think we were as good as our opponent and should not have won but we did. In the past, this was definitely true. (I rushed in 2011 against Okie State) I think where our program is now, we can compete with the best teams in the nation and I want to expect us to win/be in those games.
Unprofessional ... as Purdy was walking off the field after he threw the interception two WVU players sought him out then sandwiched him and talked some trash ... it happened fast but if you watch the replay it was pretty obvious what they were doing ...
Then do it. What is stopping you? I didn't see you out there after Akron, why? You're an idiot. It's for fun. It's for celebration.
I'd rush the field after every exciting win, if I could.
In the same line with bad sportsmanship, West Virginia players regularly get "hurt" after Iowa State makes a big play, only to come back in a play or two later. There were multiple examples of stuff like this. The personal foul on us towards the end of the game was our O-Lineman pulling one of their guys off Montgomery as that guy kept pushing on Montgomery well after the whistle. On one of Butler's catches across the middle going South, after the tackle was completed (with the help of another defender obviously) the defender that got beat took a swipe up towards Butler's upper torso. He could have been trying to swat the ball out of his hands, but regardless it was well after the tackle and whistle. Stuff like this happens all the time and our players are guilty of it sometimes too, but for some reason it really stood out to me when I was watching the replay on Sunday.
There's a reason Holgerson doesn't take timeouts. He doesn't NEED to.In the same line with bad sportsmanship, West Virginia players regularly get "hurt" after Iowa State makes a big play, only to come back in a play or two later.

eh Clemson rushes the field after every win no matter how good or bad. Let the kids have their fun.I think my problem with rushing the field/court is that we are basically admitting that we didn't think we were as good as our opponent and should not have won but we did. The overrated chants are that and I do wish that would stop. It is a bad look. Rushing the field is just celebrating. It doesn’t IMO have much to do with whether you expect to win. Other than it is rough on the field I wish they would do it every game.I think my problem with rushing the field/court is that we are basically admitting that we didn't think we were as good as our opponent and should not have won but we did. A crowd should never chant overrated. The only time a crowd should chant overrated is at the beginning of a game, followed by the overrated team getting their arses pounded. I would have liked if the student section did that.
There needs to be a policy first. Is there one?I just don't know how you'd ever prove that.
Best solution? Keep fans and participants apart. I wouldn't be surprised in the near future if Jamie is writing a check to the conference every time fans end up on the field or the floor (basketball).
Agree with you for sure. "Over rated" chant has always baffled me. Chanting "under rated" about ourselves would make more sense, but that wouldn't be cool.A crowd should never chant overrated.
Its basically deminishing that fact you upset a good team. By chanting overrated,
you are saying that team isn’t that good anyways and shouldn’t be ranked, so our team didn’t beat a great team but rather they just beat an average team.
I thought that one was odd too. I'm not sure I've ever heard of a personal foul for "pulling a player off the pile." WVU got away with at least two late hits on Purdy as well.
Ya, that's an apples to apples comparison. Everything leading up to the Akron game was somber as hell and the game itself about made half the fans in the stadium fall asleep. It's exactly the same thing as beating the crap out of a top 10 team in a hyped up night game.
A couple years ago, the pulling off the pile penalty was created. Was for the fights after fumbles. This was JGJ protecting a teammate. I had no problem with GJ doing it. I think there should not have been a call.
