The original "big dog" reference in this thread related to recruiting. I say we're a big dog -- though not the biggest, certainly. However, if we go after a top recruit and, say, Tennessee goes after the same recruit -- we're "big" enough to stay in contention for that recruit. Unlike men's BB -- where we need a serious "inside track" (HB) to contend with Duke, Kansas, UNC.
And so, by the power vested in me by myself (and what's logical to me), I so declare ISU to be a "Big Dog" in women's BB.
Okay, I know we beat this to death, but when ISU lands an McDonald's All-American, we can talk. But, your argument would still be off, because TN, UCONN, NC, Rutgers, Standford, has multiples in each class, every year, like clock-work, and will stay that way until title 19 goes away. Although some "stars" are starting to see that there are some of their peers who are bench warmers, and have to be cautious to find the right fit for them.
AGain, ISU WBB is my favorite sport, and part of the joy of watching and supporting this team is that they are not divas, they are hard working ladies who play as a team and are class-act ladies. A star here and there, Prins, possibly Aus, is good for the mix, but I will say it again, until TN puts ISU on their non-conference schedule, we are not a big dog. And that my friends, can be a good thing.
We have no where to go but up, and more and more, young girls are seeing the Big 12 as top in attendance and support. That is only gonna help, that along with Baylor getting a national title in the next couple years.
