Yep. For the mid and lower tier teams in the Big 12, they will be making more money then they probably ever did in the last 15 years. For the big dogs, they are taking a small hit in TV money coming in. To add more teams right now, the big schools would make even less and the small dogs would be making what they were before if not just a little more. Money wise is just isn't really feasible and keeping everyone happy.
If the Big 12 still was on their old model of more exposure more money instead of going to equal revenue sharing, they probably would add 2 more schools.
Once that contract starts negotiations, teams will be added. Hopefully we only look East though.
A new contract would go into effect in the 2016 year.
Negotiations would probably start 12-18 months in advance (just a random guess on timing).

Asked what division Missouri would be in, Arkansas Athletic Director Jeff Long posted on his Twitter account that Missouri will be in the "East initially."
I guess that kind of confirms that its likely the SEC will just bid its time until it can convince a couple ACC schools to join up to get to 16.
Personally, I do not see someone from Jacksonville watching a Mizzou game unless Florida is playing in it. ZOU is the new SEC outsider. As far as aTm, jars will be jars and they fit the mentality better.
We have to have 12-14 teams for the next Tier 1 talks in 2015, so I suspect some more teams will be verbally added next year that then must wait 27 months to exit.
I'd love to see a Hawkeye reaction to this. I bet it be this...
1. First they'd be super upset to be split up from the Big 10 rivals
2. Next they'd say, "oh well, we'll just win this dumb conference every year to prove we're the best thing since sliced bread."
3. After 5-6 seasons of play they'd average about a 5th place finish every year behind, Oklahoma, Nebraska, BYU, and Okie St.

I don't know why people/media keep putting out their own rational opinions on conference realignment. Anything fair or rational has gone out the window forever if there is no commish to regulate college football. Who would've thought Texas-Texas A&M would be in separate conferences or South Florida and Boise St would be in the same conference?
As much as proposals like this try to make sense out of all this, people need to understand its all about ego, power, and greed, and the people with the most of it will never give any of it up unless forced to.

Hey, SBNation ... Couldn't we at least wait until the season plays out before fantasy-heads start filling in playoff brackets? For Pete's sake, we don't know if Stanford or Okie State or even LSU is going to win out. These "playoff bracket" fantasies are just pie-in-the-sky wishlists. Sheesh. You might as well say, Hey, a playoff would have Notre Dame and USC in the championship, cause I like them da best! And ND's new helmets are da bomb, yo!
