You could bring anyone you wanted with a college student ID into the Okie State game.
They haven't bought tickets which is leaving tickets for freshman who won't use them to buy. More likely to show up...a freshman or a junior who has had tickets for 2 years already?
For the Oklahoma State football game students with any college id could get $5 tickets to sit in the student section. Pretty sad Pollard had to rely on other students to fill his own student section with the #2 team in the country comming in.
So, the ticket holders who don't show up AREN'T the students who have been forever turned off of basketball by the awful McDermott years? You can't have your cake and eat it too.
If you use the 45 fee then you need to throw in donor donations into the general season tickets. Seats I get from a friend, a section over from CA requires a 2500 donation. Add 300 for tickets and in 4 seats you now have 3700 for 4 seats.
I sit right across from it so I have a better vantage point then you do, and your wrong. There have always been a handful of students who sit in the upper deck to avoid CA, and it hasn't changed for years, it always the same crowd/numbers. Over the last 3 home games we have had, it been the parquet section that has been embarrassing, and its been about the same as it has been the past 3 or 4 years. I understand the bad student attendance when ISU sucked, but that's not the case this year, and student attendance continues to be sub-par. The odd thing is, it seems to be getting worse as this season progresses, which does not make sense at all!
Both. Because students my age (super senior) and slightly below me (seniors/juniors) cut the amount of tickets they purchased from awful hoops, their attendance fell. Couple that with freshman who are oblivious to having tickets and you didn't recover anything. Now if those older students buy tickets there aren't tickets for the freshman to not show up.

No you don't. Why does JP need the leverage for real season ticket holders? He can't exactly get screwed by the University on those tickets. And those upper level tickets aren't going for that. The parquet is always going to be students on the ends, people want the upper level released. That upper level is the cheapest seat in Hilton where JP can get a lot of money charging students for them and not just $99 tickets.
I don't want to cut students coming to games, it is their to experience it. I do think that there needs to be a better way to do this so those students who want to show up can, but not have a bunch of idle seats.

I get that they showed up for the bigger games and that is defiantly an improvement from the bigger games of previous years, but overall the attendance is no where near where it should be, and the last 3 games have been pathetic.
I still don't fully agree with you, but this is the most sense your argument has made to me.

Like I said, if students want tickets show. I showed up to football during the walden years and that was rougher than McDermott. If there are going to be open seats, do a fire sale for 5-10 bucks and grab some extra cash and fill the seats.
I have more pictures but they suck.... Yes the student section wasn't great but the whole arena wasn't "sold out". It was against a bad team and on a Wednesday night. Attendance is always a little weaker on week days. Let's quit blaming each other on who sucks at showing up and cheering and just cheer for the team.
It's not this end of the arena that I think most are complaining about, it's the sections directly across from it. This area is mostly $99 season ticket holders, not students.
How many students from other schools do you think were there?
I'm betting it was more ISU students who didn't have season tickets than anything.
You cant compare football and anything else.
If the Beatles reunited (and Harrison and Lennon came back to life) for one show only, an NFL exhibition game would probably still sell more tickets.
