Spoiler Alert: Uniform update

I agree with this, you shouldn't wear a jersey unless you are a kid or family member of the player. Nothing makes me cringe more than a 45 year old man wearing a jersey. If there is one thing the south does best is dressing for football games. I love wearing oxfords to the games and my girlfriend and her friends are in sun dresses, I wish more people did that too.

******.

Bingo. Although, I've seen ISU college kids wearing really cheap, ratty old cardinal or gold suit coats for games and got a kick out of it. Seemed more like a joke than these Southern bros wearing seersucker.

No suit should be work tailgating if you are being serious about it. I used to tailgate back in the early 2000's with a full leisure suit! Bright red, 100% polyester. Used to be my grandfather's suit. He was a Wheel Horse dealer (if any of you even know who that is) back in the 70's and used it at trade shows. Was the best conversation starter, plus I don't know how many free beers that thing got me. Still have it, and I break it out every once and a while. I think the last game I wore it too was for the CU tornado game.

When the Leisure suit came out in the 70's it was marketed as the young hip thing to wear. Of course young people steered away from it so the only people wearing them were middle aged men that thought it made them look young and hip. Yeah, the young ladies really flocked to these.

I would never wear anything nice to a game.

1) Its either too damn hott
2) Its either too damn cold
3) I get too drunk and spill or fall down.

Ok, put on your conspiracy theorist hat on. Wasn't a player last year cited as saying they may be getting new uniforms for the next year? I thought I remember hearing some chatter about in year one we got the SEZ and then the next year could be new alternate unis? I think the timeline (of when the player said this and when the order would be due) would be close to lining up.

I think the "new uniform" was the alteration to the shoulder stripes and bringing red pants back. Whoo.

Agreed, but the recruits love seeing different uniform choices. Is this the final factor for recruiting, no. But, kids like seeing it. Gives them something to look at on the long trek to the airport. :peek:

Top 20 schools in recruiting. Alabama, Florida State, Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson, LSU, Mississippi, Auburn, USC, Georgia, UCLA, Texas, Florida, Tennessee, aTm, Baylor, Stanford, Oklahoma, Michigan State.

The results suggest the recruits are not as shallow as some suggest. They are buying into the tradition and the brands which don't change with the weather. They want stability.

Find some good uniforms and keep them through thick and thin. I see nothing wrong with the current helmet logo. People recognize it as Iowa State.

this is the worst argument you can make. Since we are not any of those schools, we have to do something. This something could be alt unis. Obviously. Kids like them, sure, they arent going to pick us over Alabama because of them, because Alabama is Alabama. Also, I think every school you listed wore at least one alt uni last year.

I didn't realize the discussion was limited to one alt uniform per season.

Need pic.

Hopefully this will open the eyes of the people that claim we shouldn't change our uniforms because we are building a brand. Even TCU thinks we look like USC. We need different uniforms ASAP.

Well gosh! If TCU thinks it we'd better scrap everything!

Do they have an opinion on I-State vs Toilet Cy?!?

I think most TCU fans look like purple chairs or metal bleachers.

So he didn't like the uniform with more yellow. Got it. So adding more yellow would not be wise, got it. Yes, I fully agree with that.

I also agree with him in that simple is better. It always has been.

The problem for ISU is you have to incorporate three colors in an away jersey if you are going to wear white. He doesn't seem to understand this compared to the schools that have one other color and white.

I do agree that for away games ISU should stick with the all white top and white pants. The less yellow the better. The yellow works on the home jersey because there is no white. ( two color concept again)

I think you have to be a top 20 team to think that way. ISU is not! A good top 20 team could wear pink and probably get who they want...maybe stretching it alittle.....Anyway, I think it shows a commitment to be aggressive with the unis that recruits like.

I love a stadium full of women in sun dresses, with the glow of the setting sun back lighting them as they sit quietly, sipping sweet tea and fanning themselves....Wait...I'm at a football game...and I'm watching a guy in an oxford get his *** kicked by a guy in a jersey.

You can wear anything you want to a football game. What kind of stuffy bull **** is that? Maybe you can't make hamburgers at your tailgate. Caviar? Champagne? I'll bet you're a blast with those kinds of rules.
