Spoiler Alert: Uniform update

unless you are 13 or under, you probably shouldnt be wearing a jersey anyway, so I look at it as a good thing.
I agree with this, you shouldn't wear a jersey unless you are a kid or family member of the player. Nothing makes me cringe more than a 45 year old man wearing a jersey. If there is one thing the south does best is dressing for football games. I love wearing oxfords to the games and my girlfriend and her friends are in sun dresses, I wish more people did that too.

I agree with this, however, I own a jersey. I bought a Jake Knott jersey the week after he gave his speech that he was hanging it up for the year. I wear it occasionally because it reminds me how big of a bad*** he was..

So you guys kinda like almost gold pants with mustard yellow helmets? Really? Maybe it's just personal preference I guess but the mustard yellow is not and has never been our colors. CRDINAL and GOLD

Well, Jack trice wore yellow, not metallic gold, so not sure why you believe this. We have worn metallic gold, too...see 1950-1960's

I've never understood why yellow has replaced gold in our uniforms. Can't or won't Nike provide the gold color, or did ISU want yellow instead of gold?

You sure it wasn't a yellow version of gold first?

cold honey?

How can anyone like those colors? That is exactly what is wrong with our colors. We don't need to enhance it.

Actually the pants look like a pretty good gold to me and I'm good with gold. I just prefer the helmets to be gold instead of red.

Bahaha, have fun in your "oxfords" at a football game. Now the sun dresses won't get any complaints from me. Sorry, this will probably derail this unique uniform thread.

If you're wearing an oxford while your girlfriend wears a sun dress, you're going to stick out like a sore thumb. It also reeks of a lack of authenticity, considering that's never been a tradition for most schools in the north. You look like you're trying way too hard.

I've never worn a jersey but the oxford/sun dress combo would look ridiculous up here.

Barf. Go back to Mississippi.

Its a football game, not a genteel ball.

Do you also let your nuts hang out of your shorts? The south can keep that look.

Ya the whole finely dressed Sunday attire thing is a little formal for the likes of an Iowan eating brats and drinking beer.

Love it how everyone PRESUMES to know what a recruit loves and does not love. How do any of you know what they want and don't want unless you have walked in their shoes. Given that most of these kids are fresh out of highschool there is a reasonable assumption that they are going to like flashy unis and accessories. And to a degree I also agree with this line of thinking, but ultimately, but ultimately all of the best recruits are going to go where they think they have the best chance of winning or to the school they loved growing up. For the rest of those recruits it behooves the football program to do anything in it power to attract and retain the best of the rest. And if flashy alternate unis if one of those tools then it should be used. Who gives a damn what the best power 5 schools do, the coaches need to do what they need to do to improve this football program. Bring on the flashy unis!

Well...seeing as many coaches (among them some of the biggest names) have said that uniforms, social media savy coaching staffs, all the bells and whistles are things that a lot of todays recruits pay attention to and in fact draw some in...I would say I'll let the coaches tell me what recruits are excited about.

Bingo. Although, I've seen ISU college kids wearing really cheap, ratty old cardinal or gold suit coats for games and got a kick out of it. Seemed more like a joke than these Southern bros wearing seersucker.

I'd like to see them wait until year two and get it right and bad*** over rushing just to have something in year one. It is correct that Nike orders are due a year out; orders for an upcoming season are due around late October/early November -- for everything: shoes, hats, staff practice attire, uniforms, travel sweats, etc. and then a semi drops it all off in the summer. Some small orders can be placed after that but nothing of significant quantity or change (i.e., full high quality [insert running CF joke here] uniform sets for 130 players).

The Jack Trice throwbacks were thrown together on a short timeline and it looked like a cheap product because it was a cheap product. The jerseys were screen printed on the same material as practice jerseys, and the pants were made from the same material as pre-2008 pants. When Pro Combat uniforms were all the rage, teams & Nike reps were planning them at least 1.5 - 2 years out so they could be ordered by the year-in-advance deadline.

Ok, put on your conspiracy theorist hat on. Wasn't a player last year cited as saying they may be getting new uniforms for the next year? I thought I remember hearing some chatter about in year one we got the SEZ and then the next year could be new alternate unis? I think the timeline (of when the player said this and when the order would be due) would be close to lining up.

I think it was Cory Morrisey his senior year that said that.
