Some comments from Sage

I floated a concept to JP for the SEZ to which he responded positively, but already had gone too far with the existing plans. A vertical multistory glass walled building where ALL of the glass is an integrated video board (see LG's newest see-through OLED). The multistory would be all press, offices, and club seating. For a cold weather climate, it'll take away the 'empty' upper corners making for a dramatically more intimidating environment. It'll have a walk through concourse, bar area, etc. John Madden says there's no better seating than the endzone. This would be all time coup for that.
Well..they can still do it for the NEZ!

As a parent of a 2-year old (so far) I was looking forward to the babysitting setting. I'd come to more games if there was a built-in sitter at Jack Trice.

We could call it Clone Care. Or Cy's Cytting Cyrvice.

I'd personally rather have an area in the stadium for making babies. Two great pastimes combined into one setting, kinda like Toronto baseball.

Two points to this: Using the words "sitting on a pile of cash" is not something someone on the outside should say and you won't hear any AD's saying that. Secondly, I would caution using this word when our peers probably have more cash than us.
You do know that adding words changes the statement, right? You’re the one applying the peers part, so just stop.

I’m a big fan of raising the standard of the Average Joe Cyclone fan, but Sage can allude to the Iowa State community having the money to retain a coach and complete projects without us needing to have the biggest pile.

First, perhaps he’s raising the standard. There are many woe-is-ISU fans here that wouldn’t think twice about JP not making a serious effort to retain this staff as “there’s nothing we can do”. That’s JP’s job, to find that money, and that standard should be stated. Our budget is also higher than even 10 years ago. Fans should demand that increase go to football staff salaries and projects.

Second, it’s a classic tactic to send the message to outsiders that we’re willing to leverage our future to retain this staff. They may want them, but we’ll pay based on needing them. This isn’t the ‘80s or ‘90s.

what Sage says has absolutely zero to do with any negotiating that ISU does. None! Even if it did make things dicey, who gives a bleep? That is JP's problem. Trust me, it is not a factor and your assumption is such a huge stretch. You are thinking about something way too much that absolutely does not matter.

Besides, who cares what JP thinks? He works for us and for Sage. It is his job to make it happen.

That's just false, Sage has a big voice, to donors and fans.

So you are ok with Sage?
I'm speaking about the athletic department... Sage is a fan and I'm sure he get's a lot of inside info, but, it's not for him to speak about future plans or "piles of money".

Except for the fact that it was already made public by Pollard in September. So Sage isn't sharing anything that hasn't already been shared publicly.

Was the 5-6 story building spoken about? I'm not aware of this, please share if the details have been released on this building.

I'll go on record and say that I'm 100% comfortable with Sage speaking about our athletic programs and department as a whole.

100%

ISU is fortunate to have him associated with the university.

Good for you. As mentioned in one of my previous post, just my opinion.

This is a pretty naive statement. The hillsides are meant to be family friendly. Not many stadiums have a family friendly or cost efficient area in them. Many of those families would not attend the game without that cost efficient and family friendly environment.

While that may sound appealing to some, many of those kids in the baby-sitting area turn into season ticket holders down the road.

If you don't like the baby-sitting environment of the hillsides buy an actual seat.

Hell, the kids sliding down the hill in the mud during the Kansas game was probably the most entertaining part of the 2nd half.

The reason other schools have such big press boxes is because those are their luxury suites. We have those between the upper and lower concourse so we don't need as big of a press box.
