Some comments from Sage

Since he is in contact with Pollard frequently, it wouldn't surprise me that he actually is saying things about retaining Campbell to calm fans fears that Pollard feels he shouldn't say himself.
The university should speak about future plans, not an outsider. I'm too lazy to do some research, but I would be shocked if ISU is sitting on "loads of money" vs our peers....

He wasn't speaking on behalf of the university. And "loads of cash" may mean that there are alumni lined up to donate if/when needed.

Maybe a park at the park thing like at Petco Park in San Diego?

A mini football field with video boards so kids can play and parents can watch the game

Pretty sure that's what I saw in Boulder a few weeks ago.

They also have a beer garden or two, which actually kept people out of their seats.

what Sage says has absolutely zero to do with any negotiating that ISU does. None! Even if it did make things dicey, who gives a bleep? That is JP's problem. Trust me, it is not a factor and your assumption is such a huge stretch. You are thinking about something way too much that absolutely does not matter.

Besides, who cares what JP thinks? He works for us and for Sage. It is his job to make it happen.
We (average joe fans) are cheap and accustom to funding at a low P5 level, so imo it’s a little valid to think the message should be that we need everyone to invest more if we want more. Nevertheless...

I’m a big fan of the overall direction JP keeps us on, but is he the one that has the final call on design of these things, or is that up to the major donor and current staff? Mostly just curious, as JP doesn’t strike me as great at those things. (Although much better than the decision of the Jake)

The quote wasnt vs our peers was it? I havent listened but no one else has quoted that. It was just a pile of money. With respect to what we are used to is how I take that. Not a pile of money like Notre Dame.

Is that what he said? You can have the capability as a Cyclone community to get some of these needs done, but that doesn’t mean you’re saying we have more money than our peers.

look how steep the lower deck is on Arkansas stadium. With Jack Trice had a steeper incline on the lower deck. It would put the upper deck closer to the field and make it a more intimidating environment. For an engineering school, they did mess this part up (yeah, I know the engineering school didn't design the stadium). The interesting thing is they took all of the design flaws of Jack Trice Stadium and corrected them with West Virginia's stadium
I floated a concept to JP for the SEZ to which he responded positively, but already had gone too far with the existing plans. A vertical multistory glass walled building where ALL of the glass is an integrated video board (see LG's newest see-through OLED). The multistory would be all press, offices, and club seating. For a cold weather climate, it'll take away the 'empty' upper corners making for a dramatically more intimidating environment. It'll have a walk through concourse, bar area, etc. John Madden says there's no better seating than the endzone. This would be all time coup for that.

No. There's an army of parents who love the baby-sitting area.

Unfortunately for them, Jack Trice is evolving away from a daycare facility into an actual football stadium. So sorry.

As a parent of a 2-year old (so far) I was looking forward to the babysitting setting. I'd come to more games if there was a built-in sitter at Jack Trice.

We could call it Clone Care. Or Cy's Cytting Cyrvice.

How are you going to get "on the fence" people to give money when someone (close to the AD) is on record of saying "we're sitting on loads of money" no matter what the context is?

Two points to this: Using the words "sitting on a pile of cash" is not something someone on the outside should say and you won't hear any AD's saying that. Secondly, I would caution using this word when our peers probably have more cash than us.

I'm against someone outside of the program going on radio saying the athletic department is sitting on a "pile of cash". Just my opinion...

Just listened. Sage basically pointed out that there are lots of big-money projects out there for the football facilities and a few million extra won't be a big deal if we should need to pay Campbell.
