Rob Howe just destroyed the KXNO

I think he'll get a chance somehow still.

Even if he was a model citizen he's not talented enough to automatically have an NFL career. There are loads of guys in the NFL with DJK speed. He doesn't have the strength and height to automatically catch on with somebody.

Definitely. DJK is not an elite NFL WR, not even close. He's maybe a 3rd or 4th WR for most teams. But, if Lawrence Phillips got three chances, DJK will get two. He probably took himself from the 4th or 5th round to undrafted free agent, but someone will give him a shot at making their team and it wouldn't suprise me if he makes it.

Listening to it Rob had an agenda. He set Matt up.

Really? I think Matt set Rob up and Rob took the bait. No doubt Rob had been holding back some issues with Matt once the lid came off but Matt asked the tough question everyone on this message board was hoping would be asked and Rob took the bait hook line and sinker and wound up looking just as childish as Matt did once the gloves came off.

How so? Perpetrating false rumors about conference realignment has the potential to be hurtful as well.

How? By hurting the feelings of a fanbase that is considered an odd man out? That's hardly on the same level as perpetuating rumors that can leave people labeled for the rest of their lives. Sort of like if/when a Catholic priest is wrongfully accused of inappropriate contact, and then subsequently gets shuffled all over the place after congregations learn of the accusations.

First off, I think MP is good at times, not so at other times. I just listened to the podcast. Maybe Matt put some stuff on his twitter, but that's his job, and Rob Howe flat out attacked the guy. Howe was name calling like an elementary school girl.

Rob said he thought about not going on the show due to what Matt had said and wrote. The first chance Rob was pushed he went off on Matt. Matt isnt innocent in this because he kept pushing the issue but Rob started the yelling. Matt also should know better than to push the Iowa media that KF has in his back pocket. Those guys will never say a bad thing about KF because they dont want to be on KFs bad side.

Exactly. So Rob pretty much went on the show looking for a fight, and could have had the ******* match off the air.

I didn't say they were on the same level, only that they were hurtful as well.

Conference breakup rumors foster the appearance of instability - recruits choose other schools - athletic performance drops - school actually does lose stability - jobs lost, reputations ruined.

There are a huge number of negative effects. Jon was quite heavy handed when he discussed the rumor mill and Social Media. My point is that he seemed to have no problem with them this summer. You can claim that the personal subject matter of this situation makes it a wholly different case, but it's not really. Jon's free to have a double standard. HN is his site. But let's call it for what it is.

There were MANY national media covering the conference realignment in the same manner. At that point, EVERYBODY was talking about it, and there wasn't much that Miller could say that was going to make it any worse. But what he does in regard to the personal rumors is more along the lines of "nipping it in the bud". I will grant you that it's not necessarily the most principled way to handle things (talking about it because no more damage could be done).

And the Big 12 is not very stable. That's a fact. Any conference that Texas is a part of will live under their thumb, and eventually resentment mounts (see: Nebraska/CU leaving)

with all the outlets reporting rumors yesterday, you can make the exact same argument about Miller not being able to make things any worse. The information was out there. His stand was symbolic, a moral line in the sand so to speak. He doesn't have the ability to nip these rumors in the bud and actually prevent them from being spread.

Only in the minds of those who would like to see it fail . . . the only people who seem to keep posting this crap are hauk fans. Geee . . I wonder why?

When you're fighting a whiney little *****, you have to get down to his level.

I'm supporting Matt P on this one . . .

Howe hit the PERSONAL attack button real quick . . . because he knows Matt P is asking the Million Dollar question/s.

Matt P . . like many of us . . . aren't buying the slickster crap coming out of IC.

Howe made it PERSONAL, MEAN, and DISRESPECTFUL . . like a lot of hauksters. Their drone like fascination with everything Iowa borders on cultism.

Anyone with common sense will wonder how many . . if not all of the players knew what DJK was up to. THAT speaks volumes to me.

Just ANOTHER example of how LOOSE of a ship Saint Kirk runs in IC just to win frickin football games. HONOR before Victory!

100% correct. He has no spine of his own, it has to be connected to the guy next to him.

I would completely disagree. No spine? It's called being professional and keeping your relationship with clients. Why would KM want to even jump into that mess when Howe made it personal with MP?

It's not a judgement based on just yesterday.
And, MP makes it personal with everyone every time I've listened. Why should his guests be expected to act any different?

I'm not excusing MP, though personally I thought RH came off looking 10x worse yesterday...when most of the time MP is the one that gets personal.

I'm just saying I think Ken Miller is extremely professional. You may call it spineless, but I see it as a way to always keep relationships and have open doors.

Maybe spineless was a little rough.
I do think he has TSS (tiny sack syndrome) though.

This DJK thing must have thrown the Hawk fans for a loop. They are off their game. First, a Hawk lover falls apart during a radio interview. And then this. Normally, these lame attempts to steer the conversation to other topics and deflect scrutiny from the Hawks would have happened within the first page of posts, not 12 pages in...

You underestimate how bad being out of a BCS conference would be to Iowa State University. Lots of people stood to lose their jobs, the University would lose a lot of money, affecting the quality of education they could provide. Spreading rumors about that kind of thing is every bit as bad as saying someone knew someone else was doing drugs.

Haha I suppose I can give you that. At times I wish he'd jump in on a side and pile on. I don't like drama in my life, but I love watching/listening to others go at it.
