RECRUITING: Recapping Hallice Cooke's ISU visit

I mean we aren't desperate at this point. If the kid(whoever that kid is) won't be a big minute guy, I think it would be smart of us to pass. This program is in a great position to do that.

I agree. ISU has no major needs at this point. What they do with the two open scholarships are just added bonuses to a talented team.

Also have MT and Custer coming in, so we have a lot of young talent in the back court. Either he thinks that is good, he will have a lot of competition and play on a winning team OR he knows his minutes will be limited and it will tough to be the "man" in Ames.

Or maybe, just maybe we take him at a his word about making a decision too quickly the last time he picked a school and that is what put him in his current position. He cannot afford to make the same mistake twice.

People need to remember he is giving up a year of playing competitively to find the right school. I don't think the kid is too worried about playing time. Kid was starting at Oregon State, he had all the playing time he wanted.

So would he still have to sit since the coach got fired after he was given his release?

Does anyone know that we've actually extended an offer? Just because he was on a visit doesn't mean that he's been offered does it? Maybe the decision wasn't all his...

I LOL at the fact that because Cooke didn't commit on the visit, that it may be because we really don't want him.

Do any of you feel that way about Anderson?

Cooke said he rushed his decision from High school so it's understandable that he wants to take additional visits that he didn't get to out of HS

Probably smart to remember that this kid is transferring after his freshman year to play three, as opposed to the 1 or 2 year guys we've taken recently. I would imagine he's treating his recruitment more like a second HS recruitment than the typical transfer, especially since he originally committed to Oregon St. fairly quickly. None of us would bat an eye if a HS kid left to take other visits without committing.

True. Much easier to pull the trigger when you only have one to play as a grad transfer like Kane or BDJ. This kid will be here for a total of 4 years. He probably wants something else to compare it to (meaning another program that isn't a train wreck like Oregon State).

Definitely this. He's going to be looking at many different aspects of each school, as opposed to our typical 1-2 year guys who probably only care about earning a shot in the NBA regardless of location/academics. I almost think he'd be crazy to commit without taking time to weigh his options.

I feel pretty good about this kid. There are few better places to showcase your talent, particularly if you are a shooter. He's got to be thinking that with a year of Fred's coaching under his belt, he can make a huge splash the year after and perhaps even make the jump to the NBA at that point.
