Recruiting - GC is the man.

Boise State's 2007 class is currently ranked #64 with 25 commits. No four- or five-star players. I don't think this is out of character for most of their classes. And we all know what they can do with that talent, or lack thereof. Just beat OU in a BCS bowl game.

The speed is the key to this class. That will surprise the other teams how fast to the ball. Now if we can avoid being beat up getting to the ball.

This class will be better than McCarney's class would have been, and Chizik has only had a few weeks to do it. That should tell you something about why Dan is not here anymore.

I did a little research on the Big XII and Iowa via Rivals.

Here's how the Big XII North is shaping up.

CU *****1 ****2 ***14 **10
KU ****1 ***13 **7
KSU ****3 ***14 **12
MU ****4 ***15 **5
NU ****12 ***16 **1
ISU ****1 ***7 **9 Unrated 3
Iowa ****4 ***11 **4

Nebraska has more 4 star recruits than the rest of the north combined. Overall conference rankings:
#3 Texas
#10 Nebraska
#18 Oklahoma
#26 Colorado
#27 IOWA
#29 Oklahoma State
#33 Missouri
#40 T A&M
#41 KSU
#47 TTech
#49 Kansas
#60 ISU
#75 Baylor

FYI -- ISU will finish in the bottom 3 for the third straight year. Good luck next year.

NU, you are so wise (cough* cough*) and great. Please bless us with your stunning, (cough* overrated cough*) glorious team, and let us aspire to be the (classless) great fan that you are everyday.
Don't you have a Husker board to pollute? Or do they not want your lame *** either?

FREE - cyclones.com will update signing letters as they come in on 7 Feb leading up to Gene's speech at 3:00. When the players have no stars, rivals and scout then go back and take a look and then cranks on the stars. Saw 3 no stars were upped to 2 stars after a week. This is really flying under the radar. Nebraska has/had lots of pieces from Midwest juco including Zac Taylor.

Congradulations on finishing you research, I would assume this is similar to what most thesis's look like at the UNL.

Peachy, What did I do to you? I just gave the star ratings off of the Rivals website just so that everyone here can see what the other teams you compete against are doing.

Sorry for providing the info, please continue to focus on the cyclones only. I just don't want to hear you wonder why OSU is beating you 2 years from now. Later

Wait, didn't OSU upset the almighty Nebraska last season?

That coming from a team that had 30 players from the '05 class - touted with lots of 4 and 5 stars - to see a third of them gone by the end of '07.

When NU can keep their players together for 4-5 years then talk about how great of recruits you got, but it ain't going to happen with Billy C wheeling and dealing...

Keep drinking the Kool-Aid. Stars here stars there. Show me on the field come Sept. 15th and give me back my Cy-Hawk Trophy.

Wayne Storm Lightin Bolt is credited with 5 of the current 20 recruits, Fitch with several McFarland with 2.

It's just typical Husker spin. Comments like "ISU will finish in the bottom 3rd of the conference for the 3rd straight year. Good luck next year." It gets so old and tiresome. I think the best thing about CF is that we are not subjected to rants and smack from other fanbases.

I really don't care about what the Husker recruiting class looks like. If I did, I would be on their boards, not trolling around some other teams. SOOOOO, if you want to discuss CYCLONE athletics, by all means, lets do.

If you feel the need to justify why you think NU is the best thing since sliced bread, please go do it somewhere else.

Well I think we saw evidence on Monday that their basketball program is far from good. Down 39-6, 16 minutes into the game, all in front of a national TV audience. LMAO!

The real proof will be if we can get all of these recruits on campus and producing. I went back and looked at some of the recruiting classes in the past few years and noticed that a lot of the highly touted players never made it here or never panned out. I have faith in Chizek though.

That is because even though the previous coach had "turned the program around," Iowa State was still taking flyers on kids. I know, I know the budget caused all that, but he still after 12 years wasn't getting in on a lot of top kids. And a lot of the "highly" touted kids in each years "best recruiting class ever" were borderline, either academically, of legally.

That is another trick of the mediocre, recruit kids with a few stars, that you know will never set foot on campus, and use that to show that you are getting there. Then reluctantly admit that the kid, who was a tremendous, tremendous player and kid, no doubt about it just couldn't make the necessary grades to get in. Then you can run the crap about how seriously you take academics.

I guess it would get old and tiresome. So does "ISU is getting such great players", when it will probably be one of the bottom classes in the big XII. Nothing will be proven till a couple of years from now, but I'll take my chances on the type of talent that NU is bringing in. NU is very close to Texas and Oklahoma now with the last 3 recruiting classes.

All I read around here is Chizek is the greatest and that he will have things turned around in a couple of years. I don't think he will b/c he won't get enough good to great players to ISU and then add to the fact that no one knows how he'll do as a first time head coach.

ISU will struggle again next year due to lack of depth across the team and new schemes. KSU and CU are both a year ahead of ISU in their transitions. KU will be tough at home, but not much of anything on the road. Missouri has some pretty good talent, but they have Pinkle as their coach.

I follow ISU more than any other team, but that's just cause I live in Des moines and I'm subjected to their propaganda on how great ISU will be 'next year'. I pay attention to all big XII teams b/c their recruiting, coaching changes, etc... have an effect on NU.

Again, I hope Pollard and Chizek prove me wrong b/c the North needs to get much better.

1.You mean to tell me that since this is an ISU BBS that most of the post are in regards to ISU and GC.------------AMAZING, I would have never put the two and two together.

2. Isu will struggle again next year?---------------Nostradamus has nothing on you.

:wink0st:

This team is going to surprise alot of people this season

Let's not put the cart ahead of the horse. This was not a good football team last year, and to think that all of a sudden we will live up to the hype from the fans on this site is way premature.

I hope to see a well coached, fundementally sound team that doesn't beat itself. And a team that plays hard for 60 minutes. If I see that then I will be happy, regardless of the record.
