Ready for the 2pm presser...

Mirotic was drafted by the Bulls he wasn't a free agent. And a 34 year old Gasol is not exactly an elite free agent, there wasn't much of a bidding war from him.

No he wasn't. He was a free agent.

Mirotic was drafted in 2011 by Houston.

Why can't they?

Because their two stars apparently don't see eye to eye, one of them probably won't be there after next year, the other will likely be out for a good portion of the season, they have an ageing frontcourt that doesn't scare anyone, their supporting cast is mediocre at best, LeBron is in their conference, they will be good enough not to find the lottery. Do you need more or will that do it?

God this is awful. Fred looks like a deer in the headlights. This is gonna end badly for Fred. Just a gut feeling

There are 25-million reasons that prevent this from ever ending badly. And he can always come home to Ames, win or lose.

Interesting. My bad. I saw he signed a 3 year deal and thought he was a free agent.

Don't listen to him, he is still butt sore about Fred leaving. If Fred thinks he can do it, then I believe him.

The Bulls roster has a better chance of being the Knicks than a Champion. Everyone wants to pin the lack of scoring on Thibs, which is part of the problem but the rest is that they have a lot of guys who aren't that good. Jimmy Butler is the only guy on that team better than a Cavs starter. There's just no way they get through them and I think there will be at least two more teams in the East the Bulls won't be able to take a series from.

Good lord, that was a terrible series of trades for the T'wolves, they turned Parsons and Mirotic into Norris Cole and Malcolm Lee and cash. Every time I think of what a bright future the T'Wolves could have I always have to remind myself that they only arrived there through pure luck and sheer incompetence.

There are more than that right now. If the bullz do what I think they are going to do and ride a D Rose with a maxed out Jimmy Butler and then cheap out everywhere else and sign old guys around them they aren't going anywhere. The NBA is different and the bullz are the same as they've always been and Fred Hoiberg isn't going to change that.

The Bulls will be fine imo. Noah's got one more year, Pau 2, and Rose 3. I personally think Rose will get more consistant with more time back and maybe build some more confidence under Fred. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some trades, maybe Taj. It might take them a couple of years of building to get Fred an ideal roster, but I think it's definitely possible in Chicago. It will be a challenge, no doubt. I would love for Fred to be the coach to lead the Bulls past Lebron. Just gonna see how it plays out.

Especially when you look at who was drafted right after Flynn....

Really, right now Fred is the only thing keeping me from absolutely hating the Bulls. If anything, he's made me hate them (slightly) less than I used to.

Agree with all of this. I've always had a natural disdain for all Chicago sports teams. If anything, Fred's departure will elevate the Bulls in my book.

That guy up there doesn't seem like the Mayor at all. He is selling himself. I really only care about the NBA if there is an ISU player on the court... I don't know if this will make me actually watch NBA games or not. I'm still in shock, I was totally expecting him to stay in Ames even this morning.
