Ready for the 2pm presser...

I think he will be successful and wish him well, plus the Bulls are my NBA team so it's cool. We will miss him, but we will be fine with the next hire as our head man. Five years just went bye in a flash, but a good one.

That guy up there doesn't seem like the Mayor at all. He is selling himself. I really only care about the NBA if there is an ISU player on the court... I don't know if this will make me actually watch NBA games or not. I'm still in shock, I was totally expecting him to stay in Ames even this morning.

It's been over for days. The weekend had to be the final straw for holding on to the idea of Fred staying. If not that, when Fred flew to Chicago to finish the deal, it was over.
At that point, the odds were better that Chicago was going to shock the world and hire me than Fred backing out of the deal. My phone never rang, to no one's surprise.

You sound like a guy who just saw his childhood hero slapping a woman. How could you possibly think he was staying in Ames? I mean.....really?

I literally can't think of one thing he should have done differently that would have made his exit better.

Not interviewing with the Magic and Pelicans. But that's about it. And that's a stretch.

Some people need to quit acting like he pulled a Lane Kiffin on us.

Remind me, did Lane go to Tennessee? Where they the only college that would even give him a look for the head BBall job?

Fred lasted one more year at ISU, his alma mater, than the nomad Tim Floyd.

Explain to me what Fred did that was so wrong? You can decide to a whiny ***** about it, and I guess that's your right. The reality is that he resurrected a basketball program that was in the gutter, and took us to 4 straight NCAA tournaments (a feat that had not been accomplished here before), and left the cupboard full for the next coach. Fred owes us nothing

Thankfully the Hoiberger is gone from Applebees. And I don't really care to hear that Mayor word again. Now I wonder if there is anyone that really wants to build something here.
