Anyone else's school recently change to standards grading which is outcome based? They used to grade every scrap of homework, which was dumb, but now they grade no homework, which may be more dumb. They just grade assessments. And they let kids retake them multiple times. So lots of kids don't do the homework, take the tests, fail, keep retaking them, and don't ever do a whole lot better.

PENATONIX JUST RELEASED THEIR VERSION OF BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY!!!!.

Been out for a few days, the 13yr old has been listening to it. She made me pre-order the Classics v4 album (3 songs were pre-release and so she had those immediately). She was SO excited when the rest was released about 10pm last night. She did an impromptu dance to Take Me On. Which I recorded and posted to snapchat. ;)

A couple years ago the MS went to more project based learning, so more projects I guess. They still "count" homework but it is on a 0-3 scale. 3 is done, complete, and correct. There are plenty of opportunities to re-do work if they aren't happy with their scores. Daughter is logged on to her grades and will check every day or so to see if there are things she wants to re-do. I know there was one assignment she re-did and still didn't get a 3 so she was mad.

I was looking at some code a guy was testing and for the life of me I just don't understand why people take some of the simplest things and make them so complicated. That's usually why code doesn't work.

FBI searched an abandoned home with no luck. News featured another gun store in Janesville. Interviewed the owner and showed them replacing their windows with bullet resistant glass. This gun store is also an auto repair shop.

There was a standoff at a home in Whitewater near the middle school today. It is not the guy they are looking for. They bussed all the students from the high school, middle school and elementary school to the UW Whitewater auditorium.

Harimad, where is your niece getting her architecture degree from?

Chaser, I haven't seen anything on the news about the Wi. guy is he just running around or did he shoot some stuff up?

Was doing maintenance on equipment and found where a wheel bearing was out, got it fixed but instead of taking an hour it turned into 5 hrs by the time we got done making the parts run and getting it all back together. Oh well at least it's fixed and didn't break somewhere inconvenient.

He's at large. He made general threats to schools and public officials. I think that's a distraction to keep LE busy while he makes a getaway. It's a nationwide manhunt now.

What the hell is Larry Eustacy doing looking for him?!?!

In 2000-something a crack basketball coach was exiled from ISU by an athletic director for a crime he did commit. He promptly escaped from maximum security obscurity in Mississippi to the Colorado underground. Today, still wanted by Des Moines Register "journalists" , he survives as a coach of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find him, maybe you can hire LE.
