Possible Transfer

Most other teams think they have the best fan base too.
So why should we trust you know better? Our coach says it hurts the the team and experts have agreed. So i ask again why should we disregard them and listen to you?

People saying he's not good enough probably makes wants him to come here more. If it doesn't, we don't want someone that soft anyways. We want competitive players who will put in the work and prove people wrong.

If you can't handle someone talking **** about you, don't play sports or anything that makes you "famous".

If you think you're inspiring these players by saying they're no good, you're delusional. You can debate a lot of hypotheticals on damage it can do..but I have yet to hear one single good thing that can possibly come from it. They're kids that were good enough at a game to get an education out of it. These kids aren't driving around in lamborghinis, making millions of dollars. They have to put up with some of it, sure.. that's just the way it is. I just wish that more people representing our fans would choose not to take part.

Ok I haven't read the whole thread so don't put me on blast if I say stuff that has already been said and debated about. But what I have seen/heard about Kale.

1. Pretty sure he is a wizard in the class room, he got like a 34 on his ACT and at one time wanted to be a doctor, so Northwestern would have been a perfect fit for him, tremendous education for free (obviously).

2. I played against him my senior year (his junior year) in high school, and he got buckets. Granted he was just playing against Mason City, I think he averaged like 27 points against us in his 2 games my senior season. The kid could shoot the ball.

3. Theoretically Kale would be a great fit for the program because he can play the 2 spot at 6'6 if we needed him too. (yes, I do understand that with Matt and SDW it would probably be unlikely that this would happen, but it still could be a possibility if need be) His averages may not look the best, but playing with better players makes you better, and I would like to think (and hope) we would be a better team than Northwestern when Kale would be eligible to play. So I think there is a lot of potential for Kale in Coach Hoiberg's system if he chooses to come to Iowa State.

4. The only real big downside that I see from this is us losing a scholarship (obviously) that could go to a player with a little more athleticism.

This whole we are high and mighty thing is just getting annoying. The guys dreaming of Iowa State being the one ***** fan base to never say a negative thing will never happen. 5 star players have flaws. LeBron James has flaws and had even more at these kids age. Nitpicking is going to happen whether you like it or not, and it's going to happen anywhere these athletes go.

All fanbases have idiots. The anonymous nitpickers who spout off uninformed negative opinions in threads like this prove that.

I'm hesitant to throw my two cents into this argument because my mom told me never to argue with idiots, but I do want to make a few comments (some of which have already been made).

1) Making negative comments about a possible recruit does nothing good. It can only have possible negative consequences. We almost lost a football recruit because of this recently, but yet people feel they are entitled to continuing doing this. Why? Why would you do something that could possibly hurt the team?

2) Judging a player based on how they play as a freshman is very difficult. There are several Cyclones (past and present) that have not looked like much when they arrived on campus, but by the time they left were pretty great. I've never seen this kid play, so I can't really comment either way, but I'll leave judging talent to CFH. It seems like he's earned our trust based on his early recruiting success.

3) Not every player that ISU recruits has to be a starter. Sometimes it's better to have someone that will be a great role player off the bench. He doesn't even need to be a great role player in 2014. If he comes in and gives us some quality minutes in 2015 and 2016 as an upperclassman, then I would call it a victory. Coaches have to think much more long term than the average fan.

4) I understand this is a message board and that the point of the message board is to talk about all things Cyclones, but understand that you don't live in a vacuum. Recruits come on here and read what is posted. Reading negative comments from fans does not "motivate" potential players - it encourages them to go elsewhere. If Fred is recruiting him, that means he feels like he could be a valuable player to the team. If you leave negative comments, then do you believe that you understand the team's needs and can evaluate talent better than the coaching staff?

To repeat what a lot of people have already said, lay off the negative comments about potential recruits. It serves absolutely no good purpose.

That is a decision t be made. Toughness and smarts can sometimes overcome atheticism. Both the B12 and SEC is athletic and we must compete with a similar type of player. Georges may be in the Kale category but he has developed quite a few tools to compensate and he is only a freshman.

One of the downsides on transfers is it takes two years of schollies to get a year of playing time.

That is why having a quality player on the scout team that will have 3 years of eligability on the court. If we are persuing him, great. If not, great too.

So we now have 9 pages of threads based upon an anonymous poster with an an unnamed source posting that this guy might be thinking about transferring even though he has made no public statement and continues to play for his current school. We are Cylone Fanatic.

Anyone remember when Georges wasn't all that athletic of a recruit? That seemed to work out. If there's a mutual interest, it should at least be given a chance.

That said, this is a message board. You're going to see negative opinions. If you can't handle that, you could go. Not like you're paying anything to be here.

Or people could stop hurting their team and turn down the tone of the negative comments. If this was paid i wouldnt have a problem with them, its because they are free to view making thisa an open public forum. If you wouldnt say it in front of them, then dont say it.

It's cute some people's definition of bad. If you think CF or anything in this thread is sooo negative, you should try going somewhere besides your bedroom and church.

Once again, it's not a negative opinion on something but rather a negative opinion about a player the staff is trying to persue or is currently playing for your school. If you don't get that, then there is no reason to talk further.

Ohs noes someone I never met before questioned my ability on the internets! I better switch to another school where it's also going to happen!(Now that I think about it, Niguel probably switched back because they did the same thing if not worse).

Your options are go to a tiny school where you'd be the best, or suck it up and don't care what a bunch of no ones think.

I really haven't even said anything negative, just that we are after better HS players. But the whole rosey glasses thing is getting annoying. If you have a problem with opinions, you don't belong on a forum plain and simple.

I wouldn't have minded him out of high school, but not sure if this is the type of transfer that's worth it at this point. One year to sit out when we can get immediate help as good or better than him. I will end this with, if Fred wants him, I want him. In Fred I Trust.

There's something to be said for a guy who essentially has a forced redshirt year and then will play his 3rd, 4th, and 5th years of college.

No one is asking you to change the fanbase. They are just asking individuals to change what they are doing. Several posters throw up the strawman of we aren't ever going to change everyone so I can post whatever I want. They are just asking people to choose which side of the problem they are going to be on. It is obvious that you have chosen to be on the asshat side of the problem.

I just feel that everyone should be entitled to their opinion. This is an appropriate place to do so.
