Possible Transfer

I just feel that everyone should be entitled to their opinion. This is an appropriate place to do so.

No. No it isn't. If some mouth breather wants to throw out his scouting reports that have been gathered from his cubicle, he can save his ******** for a private conversation around the water cooler.

whats the purpose of this place, if not a giant watercooler. Just reinforce positive images of every notion we have about iowa state?

If this is really that big of a deal, why dont we all go to the opposing schools boards( or get on the twitter)we are competing with for recruits and bash them. Thus, turning them into Cyclones. The fact that this topic gets so much attention around here shows how bad football season needs to get here. If any recruit has been to a game at JTS or Hilton and uses ISU's fan support as a reason to not come here, then he never really wanted to come here. My opinion is still that these kids should stay as far away from social media or boards like this as possible. Most can't handle what comes with their faux celeb status.

People saying he's not good enough probably makes wants him to come here more. If it doesn't, we don't want someone that soft anyways. We want competitive players who will put in the work and prove people wrong.

If you can't handle someone talking **** about you, don't play sports or anything that makes you "famous".

There is no basis for the bolded portion of the post. It assumes that the recruit wants to impress or prove wrong these people. If the people in question think that they know more than the players and coaches when these people can't play or coach themselves so they hide behind their keyboard and pretend that they know something by spouting uninformed opinions, the recruit or player needs not and will not prove anything to these people.

A player, coach, or recruiter gains their fame or respect by their performance. A fan gains their fame or respect by demonstrating support. If someone isn't playing, coaching, recruiting, or supporting; then I don't know what they are but I wouldn't call them a player, coach, recruiter, or Cyclone fan. They might be a Hawkeye fan or Rag reporter but they aren't knowledgeable and supportive Cyclone fans.

You can have conversation without the inclusion of over the top and unfounded opinions.

Treat it like day to day conversation, you know, the type of conversation where you keep your baseless opinions to yourself because it's common courtesy. It's basic people skills, not that hard to figure out.

Someone else said something similar to this earlier, but I think it is worth repeating.

The best rule is to only post opinions and statements that you would be willing to say to the face of current or potential student-athletes. If you wouldn't say it to them in person, I suggest the thought best be kept to yourself.

I'll put it this way if a program is sucking and I think a kid sucks and that we shouldnt be recruiting him I'm going to say it. I don't have opinions that revolve around five or six lifetime posters on this board that seem to live here and what their thoughts will be on my stance. And nobody else's should be either. Honestly most of us that played in college or if coached in college we don't come to this board for that very reason. The same small group of lifetime posters with thousands of posts under their belt that think they are GM's.

See now this is unreasonable.

No, it's not unreasonable to state your opinion on a forum.

Yea, If you want to be a doosh go right ahead. Doesn't help out the basketball or football program at all though, and could possibly hurt it. Fire away though if it makes you feel better. There is a way to state your opinion other than saying someone sucks and we don't want them, which especially stupid because most of the posters who say such things have little info on these kids and how they might fit into the team, except their rating

I don't think that applies. Nobody cares about any one stating their opinion, we care about being overly negative about a future recruit, dismissive etc. As for the CF mafia GMs, I brought the subject up and am no "lifetime poster" you have more posts than me and I did play football in college.

Well I think you know the crew I'm referring to. Not necessarily people like yourself. I don't know I think if someone's going to speculate about some transfer that may or may not have even spoken or has any interest in Iowa State then it's okay to speculate the other way too that the kid just may not be good enough.

I'm sorry that saying we are after better high school athletes hurts your feelings.

He is a mediocre player and weak compared to some of the talent we are bringing in. Is someones opinion really going to effect you this much? Honestly, who cares.

If you don't think potential recruits read this kind of stuff, you're a naive idiot. Right there with the rest of the garbage posting in this thread.

The idiocy levels actually compound by the complete lack of knowledge on the topic you are spouting off on. I liken it to people yelling at their doctors about how to do their job because they've read a couple things on WebMD.
