Phrases that Annoy You

Worst sports reference: "At the end of the day". I hear it way too much and it is completely overused.

Worst saying that is botched: "It's a mute point." It's flipping MOOT son!

I'm out.
Sports reference I can't stand: "It is what it is." I've seen too many players or coaches use this to get out of answering a question.

This. My family that lives in Minnesota is always asking, "When are you going to come down for a visit?"

Your post is especially humorous in the context of the immediately preceding post.

This isn't a phrase in particular, but I dislike the overuse of sarcasm for many of the same reasons given in this thread. 90% of the time it's not funny. It's not original, and it doesn't add anything constructive to the conversation.

The word epic and people saying others should have their man card revoked. Both were popular phrases in 2006 that people continue to say today for some reason.

"Take a leak," "take a dump," or "take a crap." Almost every time I hear one of these phrases, it is a TMI situation, and certainly every time I hear one of them, it is factually inaccurate. If anything, they are *leaving* the crap, not taking it.

"Can I be honest with you?"

I really hate that one....no please completely lie to me!

Others i hate....is the juice worth the squeeze and theres more meat on the bone along with you gotta strike while the iron is hot. :realmad:

And "fail" in most instances.

Oh! "That's what she said." I used to love The Office, laughed when Michael said it... but the shelf life was pretty short.

+1. George Carlin talked about this in one of his specials.

I can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet, but one that annoys me a lot is "taking my talents to ..." Lebron was mocked endlessly for saying it, and yet now it's said all the time.

When someone says Deja Vu "All Over Again". I assume that means they don't know what Deja Vu means. It was funny 40-50 years ago one time when Yogi said it, now I assume you just don't know what it means.
